Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals, DC Playing 11 vs PBKS (Predicted), IPL 2022, Match 64, PBKS vs DC. Punjab Kings will play against Delhi Capitals on 16th May 2022 at 7:30 pm in Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai, India in the 64th match of the ongoing IPL 2022. Delhi Capitals have defeated PBKS five times in the last seven games including one earlier this season.

DC opener David Warner has scored 427 runs for the Delhi Capitals in just 10 games, and he is winning games for the side. PBKS’ middle order has been inconsistent, and the side has paid a heavy price for its lack of consistency.

The 64th IPL 2022 game would see the Punjab Kings take on the Delhi Capitals in what is a very important game for both teams. They come having won their previous games. While Delhi Capitals defeated the Rajasthan Royals, the Punjab Kings came up with a brilliant performance against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Delhi Capitals registered an 8-wicket win against the Rajasthan Royals in the last game to move up to the 5th place on the points table. It was a good display with the bat from the side. They had defeated the Punjab Kings earlier in the season and shall take confidence from that. However, the side hasn’t won two consecutive games so far this year and they would look to avoid that here.

Srikar Bharat must do well in this game, and he has to support David Warner by opening the batting with David Warner looking in great touch. All-rounder Mitchell Marsh put his poor form behind him to play a match-winning knock against Rajasthan and this would add to his confidence. Rishabh Pant and Lalit Yadav add to the side’s strength in the middle order, and they have good hitters to follow in Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur.

Pacer Anrich Nortje must find his form and bowl well at the start of the game with Chetan Sakariya who comes here after a good show. Kuldeep Yadav has been consistent with his form and the side would expect him to trouble Punjab’s strong batting line-up. Mitchell Marsh, Axar Patel, and Shardul Thakur shall have important roles to play as their opponents have shown good form with the bat.

Opener Prithvi Shaw has missed the last three fixtures for Delhi Capitals. He is likely to be available for the next game for his side after recovering from typhoid which required hospitalization and kept him away from the squad as well. The right-hander had an excellent start to the season with 259 runs in nine games but had to miss out on the last three fixtures due to his illness.

David Warner

David Warner commenced his IPL journey at the Delhi franchise in 2009 and after 13 years, with a bag full of experience, loads of runs under his belt, and having won the IPL title with Sunrisers Hyderabad, he returns to represent the team in 2022.

David Warner, who is the fourth-highest run-getter in the history of the IPL is one of the most destructive openers across formats and he will be keen to make a mark right from the word go for DC. David Warner is already Delhi Capitals’ highest run-getter as he had already scored 427 runs in only 10 games averaging 61 at an impressive strike rate of 152.5. He has managed 5 fifties in IPL 2022 and thereby has also recorded the most fifties (54) overall in IPL history.

Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw will probably open for the Delhi Capitals team in the next match of IPL 2022. The right-handed batsman will aim to come up with a good knock in the next game after missing 3 games for being affected by typhoid.

Prithvi Shaw was retained by Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2020 and 2021 and the Delhi franchise stuck with him and retained him ahead of the TATA IPL 2022 auction. He has amassed 259 runs in 9 IPL 2022 games averaging 28.78 at an impressive strike rate of 159.88. He is Delhi Capitals’ 3rd highest run-getter so far this season and has already hit 2 fifties with a best of 61.

Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh, an integral part of Australia’s T20 World Cup-winning team, was brought on board for INR 6.5 Crore by the Delhi Capitals. Mitchell Marsh will be keen to make an impact if Delhi wants to progress to the IPL 2022 playoffs.

Mitchell Marsh had scored 188 runs in 6 IPL 2022 games averaging 31.33 with the bat with a best of 89 in the previous game against Rajasthan. He has also picked 4 scalps averaging 23.75 with the ball.

Rishabh Pant is the skipper of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022 and will obviously lead the team in the next match as well.  After failing to score well in the opening game, the left-handed batsman slammed 43 runs and unbeaten 39 runs in the two matches against Gujarat and Lucknow respectively. He has scored 294 runs in 11 IPL 2022 games averaging 32.67 and is the franchise’s 2nd highest run-getter.

Lalit Yadav

Lalit Yadav will be another middle-order batsman for the team in the next game. The right-handed batsman has so far impressed with his batting show. He scored an unbeaten 48 in the opening game. In 11 matches so far in IPL 2022, he has piled up 137 runs averaging 22.83 with the bat and picked 4 scalps averaging 36 with the ball.

He is Delhi’s 7th highest run-getter and wicket-taker this season so far. His inability to hit the long ball might force Delhi Capitals team management to look beyond him and bring someone like Ripal Patel who is a brilliant striker of the cricket ball and a handy medium-pacer too. Ripal Patel has scored 6 runs in the only innings he played in IPL 2022 out of 2 games.

Rovman Powell might be another middle-order batsman for the team in the next match of IPL 2022. In the matches so far, the West Indies player has not managed to come up with a good knock. He has scored 205 runs in 12 IPL 2022 matches averaging 25.63. However, the right-handed batter is a hard-hitter and the team needs him in the lower middle order. His strike rate has been 161.41 this season.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel will certainly be the spin all-rounder that the team can go in with in the next match of IPL 2022. The left-handed batsman played a match-winning knock of 38 runs in the opening game.

So far in IPL 2022, playing 9 games, Axar Patel has scored 146 runs in 8 innings averaging 36.5 and has picked only 4 scalps with a best of 10/2 coming in the game against Punjab. He is the 6th highest run-getter and wicket-taker for DC this season so far. His best with the bat is an unbeaten 42.

Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur will be one of the pacers on the team in the next game. The right-arm pacer has not tasted much success in the tournament so far. Shardul Thakur will look to come up with a better bowling show in the next game. He played a crucial knock of 11-ball-22 in the opening match. He has amassed 113 runs averaging 18.83 at a staggering strike rate of 144.87 in IPL 2022 with the bat.

He has picked up 9 scalps in 12 IPL 2022 games averaging 45 conceding runs at an economy rate of 9.79 which is surprising given Shardul Thakur’s credentials. He will certainly look to make amends to his bowling statistics in their next must-win games.

Khaleel Ahmed

Left-arm medium-pacer Khaleel Ahmed has been a proven performer. He was initially inducted into the Delhi Capitals side for the 2016 IPL. He was subsequently bought by SRH and has been retained since. He had a successful season in 2019 picking up 19 wickets that included a 3-wicket haul and a unique celebration style that caught everyone’s attention.

Three years later, he returns to the DC after being bought for INR 5.25 Crore. Khaleel Ahmed has 16 scalps in 8 IPL 2022 games averaging 15.5. He didn’t play the previous game as Chetan Sakariya replaced him in the playing XI. Chetan Sakariya has picked 3 scalps in as many games averaging 28.

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav, the left-arm chinaman spinner of Delhi Capitals has scalped 18 wickets in 12 matches so far at an impressive average of 20.66. He also bowled a match-winning spell of 3 wickets in the opening game, winning the man of the match award for his 3/18 against Mumbai.

His best bowling figure in IPL 2022 is 4/14 against his former franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. He is the 5th highest wicket-taker in the ongoing IPL so far. He is Delhi’s highest wicket-taker so far.

Anrich Nortje

Pacer Anrich Nortje has picked 6 scalps in 4 IPL 2022 games averaging 25.16 but has conceded runs at an economy rate of 10.53. His best is 3/42 against Chennai Super Kings. He had a horrible IPL 2022 game against Lucknow-his first this season as he conceded 35 runs in 2.2 overs and was banned for bowling beamers. He returned after almost a month.

He had picked 22 wickets in IPL 2020 and then followed it up with 12 wickets from 8 games in the IPL 2021, letting the ball rip, and delivering some of the fastest deliveries of IPL 2021. The South African right-arm pacer was one of the four retained players by the Delhi Capitals.
