Punjab Kings are an IPL cricket franchise based in Mohali. Founded in 2008, they are jointly owned by Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta and Karan Paul. They play their home games at the Inderjit Singh Bindra Stadium in Mohali. They have also played some home matches at Dharamsala and Indore.

They are one of the only three teams who are playing in the league since the inaugural season but are yet to win the trophy. They came close to winning the IPL for the first time in 2014 but lost the final against Kolkata Knight Riders. Apart from that season, they have qualified for the playoffs just once.

They began their journey in IPL as Kings XI Punjab before changing their name to Punjab Kings in February 2021. At present, Shikhar Dhawan is the captain of the team while former England coach Trevor Bayliss is the head coach.

Punjab Kings' jersey and logo:

The team's jersey proudly embraces a vibrant red hue as its primary color, adorned with golden stripes on the sides, shoulders, and arms. The team logo showcases both the team name and a roaring lion within a formidable shield.

Punjab Kings' journey in IPL so far:

Punjab Kings made a promising start in the IPL. In the first season, they won 10 of the 14 league games and finished in the second spot in the points table before bowing out at the semifinal stage. For the next five seasons, they failed to advance ahead of the league stage.

Punjab Kings' fortunes finally changed in 2014 under the captaincy of George Bailey when they finished at the top of the points table and went on to qualify for the final. In the final, they posted a big total of 199 runs but still ended up on the losing side. Since then, Punjab Kings have not progressed ahead of the league stage.

No, the PBKS have not won the IPL so far.

In IPL 2023, bowling turned out to be a weak point for Punjab Kings. Their spinners – Rahul Chahar and Harpreet Brar – managed to pick up only 17 wickets in the competition.

No one can be called the father of any team as it is inappropriate.

Punjab Kings’ fastest chase in the IPL came in 2017 when they bowled out Delhi Capitals for just 67 runs before chasing it down in 7.5 overs.
