RR vs DC: Delhi Capitals’ Predicted Playing XI Against Rajasthan Royals.

Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Capitals, DC Playing 11 vs RR (Predicted), IPL 2022, Match 58, RR vs DC. Delhi Capitals face a massive challenge in the 58th game of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2022 on 11th May 2022 at 7:30 pm in Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai, India.

They come here with a big defeat against the Chennai Super Kings and must win this game to keep their hopes for a playoff berth alive. The Rajasthan Royals on the other hand did well to win the last game against the Punjab Kings.

Delhi Capitals have been inconsistent, and their bowling attack has been a major concern for the side. Their new ball attack has looked ineffective, and the side can least afford so against the strong batting line-up that the Rajasthan Royals have. Playing under pressure the Delhi Capitals would have to rise to the occasion in their most important game of the season.

Rishabh Pant’s side finds itself in a spot of bother after their 91-run loss against the Chennai Super Kings in the last game. They must win this game to keep their hopes alive for a berth in the next round. Their bowling attack has struggled in most of the games the side has played, and Rishabh Pant would like them to rise to the challenge and restore confidence with a win in this game.

Opener Prithvi Shaw’s absence is a major problem for the team and the opening pair of David Warner and Srikar Bharat need to set up a strong platform at the top. Rishabh Pant, Mitchell Marsh, and Rovman Powell have been inconsistent adding to the side’s problems. The likes of all-rounders Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Lalit Yadav, and Ripal Patel will need to do the big-hitting down the order for the side to win.

Pace all-rounder Shardul Thakur has had a poor season and the side would need him to deliver the goods opening the bowling with left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed. Protea pacer Anrich Nortje must make good use of his pace in this game and keep the Royals’ batsmen under check.

Spin all-rounder Axar Patel, chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav, and pace all-rounder Mitchell Marsh are experienced players and the side would have huge expectations from them.

David Warner

David Warner commenced his IPL journey at the Delhi franchise in 2009 and after 13 years, with a bag full of experience, loads of runs under his belt, and having won the IPL title with Sunrisers Hyderabad, he returns to represent the team in 2022.

David Warner, who is the fourth-highest run-getter in the history of the IPL is one of the most destructive openers across formats and he will be keen to make a mark right from the word go for DC. David Warner is already Delhi Capitals’ highest run-getter as he had already scored 375 runs in only 9 games averaging 53.57 at an impressive strike rate of 156.9.

Srikar Bharat

A fine wicketkeeper, KS Bharat, also made his presence behind the stumps in the IPL 2021 and impressed one and all when he was on the field as a substitute wicketkeeper during India’s Test against New Zealand. He has been bought by the Delhi Capitals for INR 2 Cr in the IPL 2022 auction. He has played only a solitary IPL 2022 game- the previous match against Chennai replacing ill Prithvi Shaw and has scored 8 runs off 5 balls.

Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh, an integral part of Australia’s T20 World Cup-winning team, was brought on board for INR 6.5 Crore by the Delhi Capitals. Mitchell Marsh has played 25 IPL games thus far and he will be keen to make an impact if Delhi wants to progress to the IPL 2022 playoffs.

Mitchell Marsh had scored 99 runs in 5 IPL 2022 games averaging 19.8 with the bat with a best of 37. He has also picked 2 scalps averaging 35 with the ball.

Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant is the skipper of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022 and will obviously lead the team in the next match as well.  After failing to score well in the opening game, the left-handed batsman slammed 43 runs and unbeaten 39 runs in the two matches against Gujarat and Lucknow respectively. He has scored 281 runs in 10 IPL 2022 games averaging 31.22 and is the franchise’s 2nd highest run-getter.

Lalit Yadav

Lalit Yadav will be another middle-order batsman for the team in the next game. The right-handed batsman has so far impressed with his batting show. He scored an unbeaten 48 in the opening game. In 10 matches so far in IPL 2022, he has piled up 137 runs averaging 22.83 with the bat and picked 4 scalps averaging 36 with the ball.

He is Delhi’s 6th highest run-getter this season so far. His inability to hit the long ball might force Delhi Capitals team management to look beyond him and bring someone like Ripal Patel who is a brilliant striker of the cricket ball and a handy medium-pacer too. Ripal Patel has scored 6 runs in the only innings he played in IPL 2022 out of 2 games.

Rovman Powell

Rovman Powell might be another middle-order batsman for the team in the next match of IPL 2022. In the matches so far, the West Indies player has not managed to come up with a good knock. He has scored 205 runs in 11 IPL 2022 matches averaging 25.63. However, the right-handed batter is a hard-hitter and the team needs him in the lower middle order. His strike rate has been 161.41 this season.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel will certainly be the spin all-rounder that the team can go in with in the next match of IPL 2022. The left-handed batsman played a match-winning knock of 38 runs in the opening game. So far in IPL 2022, playing 9 games, Axar Patel has scored 146 runs in 8 innings and has picked 4 scalps with a best of 10/2 coming in the game against Punjab. He is the 5th highest run-getter for DC this season so far. His best with the bat is an unbeaten 42.

Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur will be one of the pacers on the team in the next game. The right-arm pacer has not tasted much success in the tournament so far. Shardul Thakur will look to come up with a better bowling show in the next game. He played a crucial knock of 11-ball-22 in the opening match. He has amassed 113 runs averaging 18.83 at a staggering strike rate of 144.87 in IPL 2022 with the bat.

He has picked up 9 scalps in 11 IPL 2022 games averaging 42 conceding runs at an economy rate of 10.12 which is surprising given Shardul Thakur’s credentials. He will certainly look to make amends to his bowling statistics in their next must-win games.

Khaleel Ahmed

Left-arm medium-pacer Khaleel Ahmed has been a proven performer. He was initially inducted into the Delhi Capitals side for the 2016 IPL. He was subsequently bought by SRH and has been retained since. He had a successful season in 2019 picking up 19 wickets that included a 3-wicket haul and a unique celebration style that caught everyone’s attention.

Three years later, he returns to the DC after being bought for INR 5.25 Crore. Khaleel Ahmed has 16 scalps in 8 IPL 2022 games averaging 15.5 and will retain his place in the playing XI.

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav, the left-arm chinaman spinner of Delhi Capitals has scalped 18 wickets in 11 matches so far at an impressive average of 19.55. He also bowled a match-winning spell of 3 wickets in the opening game, winning the man of the match award for his 3/18 against Mumbai.

His best bowling figure in IPL 2022 is 4/14 against his former franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. He is the 2nd highest wicket-taker in the ongoing IPL so far after Rajasthan’s Yuzvendra Chahal. He is Delhi’s highest wicket-taker so far.

Anrich Nortje

Anrich Nortje has picked 4 scalps in 3 IPL 2022 games averaging 28 but has conceded runs at an economy rate of 10.83. His best is 3/42 against Chennai Super Kings. He had a horrible IPL 2022 game against Lucknow-his first this season as he conceded 35 runs in 2.2 overs and was banned for bowling beamers. He returned after almost a month.

He had picked 22 wickets in IPL 2020 and then followed it up with 12 wickets from 8 games in the IPL 2021, letting the ball rip, and delivering some of the fastest deliveries of IPL 2021. The South African right-arm pacer was one of the four retained players by the Delhi Capitals.
