Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag hailed Josh Hazlewood’s performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
The Australian pacer finished with 1/19 from four overs, including the valuable wicket of MS Dhoni. In a miserly spell, Hazlewood was equally effective in both the powerplay and the death overs.

The 31-year-old helped the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) preserve 174 at the MCA Stadium in Pune, putting in a memorable effort against his previous team.
Virender Sehwag remarked on Cricbuzz that Hazlewood made things even more difficult for batsmen with his back-of-the-length deliveries:
“MS Dhoni was the most significant wicket taken. Hazlewood does not attempt to bowl yorkers or bouncers when he gets on to bowl. He delivers at a length that forces hitters to take chances. With the bounce he receives from his position, it’s difficult to confront him.”

Virender Sehwag expressed his amazement at Uthappa and Rayudu playing Glenn Maxwell’s part-time off-spin.
“I was astonished that two Indian batsmen, Rayudu and Uthappa, were caught off guard by Maxwell’s off-spin. You ended up bowling 2-22 in the over you were meant to get 20 runs in.”
‘The first blunder CSK made was naming Ravindra Jadeja as skipper’: Virender Sehwag
Virender Sehwag believes that CSK should have kept with one skipper throughout the season.
“The first blunder made by CSK was appointing Ravindra Jadeja as skipper just before the season began. Even if the performances were dismal, Jadeja should have remained captain until the season’s end.”

Sehwag continued, “Gaikwad didn’t even score runs because they were unable to find a consistent playing XI. It would have been preferable if Dhoni had been skipper from the start, as they would not have lost as many games.”
On May 8, CSK will take on the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the DY Patil Stadium (Sunday).
