RCB vs MI: Aakash Chopra Disappointed With Mumbai Indians' Usage Of Kieron Pollard In IPL 2022

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra is critical of how Mumbai Indians have used a few of their players in IPL 2022 so far. The five-timeIPL champions take on RCB in Pune in a must-win game. The side has lost all their first three games and find themselves in a must-win territory now.

Previewing the marquee clash on his Youtube channel, Aakash Chopra has said that Kieron Pollard has been underutilised by his franchise in this IPL. In the last game against KKR, Pollard scored 22 off 5 balls taking the side past 160 which was chased down with four overs to spare by KKR.

“If a player like Pollard can be so destructive then he needs to be sent up the order. Make use of his abilities. I think he is being underutilized. If you don’t trust him to play six overs then why play him? If you trust him then please give him six overs to bat and send him in front of Wanindu, Harshal and Siraj,” Chopra said.

The former Indian cricketer further said Pollard has the ability to play big shots like Andre Russell and Pat Cummins.

“He has the ability to change games. When he comes to bat in the middle-overs, captains have to change their thinking and they need to bring their strike bowlers and then those who bat at the end can explode.

“So, this is what he does and this is what Andre Russell did, remember when he came out to bat you used all your bowlers, and then Pat Cummins took it away in the end,” Chopra further said.

Mumbai Indians are placed ninth in the points table at the moment. Another loss in the IPL campaign will make them play catch up for the remainder of the season. Pollard has scored 47 runs in three games so far.
