Mumbai Indians face Royal Challengers Bangalore in a must-win game at the MCA Stadium in Pune on April 9 in match 18 of IPL 2022. The side is in dire straits to come back to winning ways and the Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma was visibly upset with the loss against KKR. However, he kept his calm in the team meeting and has urged his players to play as a team in the remaining matches.

The team will require a few changes in personnel after their lackluster performance with the ball. Daniel Sams went for 50 off his three overs and was taken for plenty by Pat Cummins who finished the match inside 16 overs against Mumbai. Jasprit Bumrah also went wicketless in this game but Basil Thampi despite bowling a good spell (3-0-15) might face the ax against RCB. In this article, we take a look at Mumbai Indians’ predicted playing XI against RCB.

Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians: Mumbai Indians’ Predicted Playing XI Against Royal Challengers Bangalore, IPL 2022, Match 18, RCB vs MI

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma scored just 3 against KKR. He has not hit the straps in the last few seasons or his side and is short of runs. For Mumbai to revamp their campaign, Rohit Sharma needs to score runs consistently and the match against RCB might just be the start. He is inching close to 800 runs against RCB in the IPL.

Kishan needs to bat with his aggressive approach at the top for Mumbai Indians. He has scored 149 rusn from three matches and is the highest run-getter for Mumbai at the moment in IPL 2022.

Suryakumar Yadav

Yadav scored 52 on his comeback for Mumbai Indians against KKR. He played shots all across the ground and was a pain for the KKR bowlers. It is imperative for him consistently score runs for Mumbai. Surya and Kishan have been the two top-scorers for Mumbai since 2018.

Brevis scored an attractive looking 29 in his debut game against KKR. He might keep his place in the XI given the intent with which he batted. He will have the license of throwing his bat at everything since someone from the top needs to take the attack to the opposition.

The southpaw has also showcased his prowess with the bat in back to back games for Mumbai Indians. He was involved in a key partnership with Kieron Pollard which helped Mumbai get past 160. It was not enough in the end, unfortunately.

Kieron Pollard

After misfiring in the first couple of games, Pollard found his range against KKR. He scored 22 off 5 balls to power them past 160. However, the Pat Cummins show overshadowed this power in the match. Against RCB, he will need to fire once again to bring his team back to winning ways.

Fabian Allen

The Windies left-handed all-rounder can replace Daniel Sams who was expensive in the last game. Allen is a brilliant fielder and can tonk the ball as well coming late down the order. He also helps MI extend their batting line-up till number seven.

Murugan Ashwin

Ashwin went for 25 off his three overs and took two wickets. The pitch at the MCA offered enough turn for the leg spinner and it would be wise for Mumbai to play with two spinners.

Jasprit Bumrah

Bumrah went wicketless against KKR and bowled just three overs. Rohit Sharma did not use up Bumrah’s overs when the match was still alive for Mumbai. The Indian pacer needs to get into regular wicket-taking form for the five-time IPL champions to make it to the last four. So far he has picked up three wickets in thee matches for Mumbai Indians.

Jaydev Unadkat / Mayank Markande

Mumbai can look to play one among Jaydev Unadkat and Markande depending on their team combination. A spinner will be more effective than a pacer on this wicket which has offered turn. PLus dew has stayed away in the last two games allowing them to dictate the play as well.
