Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Punjab Kings, PBKS Playing 11 vs SRH (Predicted), IPL 2022, Match 70, SRH vs PBKS. Sunrisers Hyderabad will play against Punjab Kings in the last league 70th Match of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2022 on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at 7:30 PM in the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Royal Challengers Bangalore stayed afloat with an 8-wicket win over Gujarat Titans. But their fate is not in their hands. Delhi Capitals are still the favorite to claim the 4th spot if they beat Mumbai Indians in the last match on Saturday.

For RCB to qualify, Mumbai Indians need to beat Delhi Capitals on Friday. Victory over MI in the last match will take Delhi Capitals to the Playoff. They have positive NRR and will surely make the playoffs with a win.

RCB’s win also officially knocked out Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad from the race. Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants with 20 and 18 points respectively are the only two teams to have sealed qualification. Rajasthan Royals are also a strong contender even if they lose to Chennai Super Kings on Friday.

After RCB’s win over GT, Punjab Kings have been knocked out. PBKS can only reach 14 while 4 teams already have greater than 16 points. After RCB’s win over GT, Sunrisers Hyderabad has been knocked out. SRH can only reach 14 while 4 teams already have greater than 16 points.

Mayank Agarwal would be unhappy with the performance his side put up in the last game against the Delhi Capitals. Their batsmen let the side down in a 17-run loss in what should have been an easy run chase. This has complicated matters for the team, and they must win this game by a big margin and hope lady luck shines on them.

Shikhar Dhawan has been the best batsman for the side, and he will look to set up a good opening wicket stand with Jonny Bairstow. The side would be worried about the forms of Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Mayank Agarwal, and Liam Livingstone in the middle order and they will have to deliver the goods. Jitesh Sharma and Harpreet Brar will look to use the long handle well down the order.

Kagiso Rabada and Liam Livingstone did well with the new ball in the last game and the same would be needed from them. Harpreet Brar and Arshdeep Singh have done well in the tournament, and they will have to come up with their best performance in this game. Rahul Chahar has regained his form which is great news for the team and there would be huge responsibilities for the spinner.

Shikhar Dhawan comes to a franchise after having scored almost 1200 runs for Delhi across four seasons. Punjab Kings bought him for Rs. 8.25 crores during the auction. Last year, Shikhar Dhawan gave a magnificent batting show playing for Delhi Capitals. He scored 587 runs in 16 games in IPL 2021.

He is the second-highest run-getter in the history of the IPL after Virat Kohli. He has scored 421 runs in 13 IPL 2022 games averaging 38.27 with 3 fifties and is Punjab’s leading run-getter this season. His best is an unbeaten 88.

Jonny Bairstow

In his short IPL career, Jonny Bairstow has notched up as many as 9 fifties and 1 hundred in the IPL.  Tenacious England wicketkeeper-batsman was a new entrant to the IPL who was bought for Rs. 1.5 crore by the SRH team management for the 2019 season.

Jonny Bairstow, a member of England’s 2019 World Cup-winning squad, is one of the cleanest strikers of the ball and can win the matches for his team on his own. Punjab Kings brought him on board for INR 6.75 Crore and Jonny Bairstow, like he has done a number of times, will be out to take the opposition by storm.

He has scored 230 runs in 10 innings averaging 23 in IPL 2022 and has scored 2 fifties. He would open again as both his fifties (66 vs RCB and 56 vs RR) have come when he opened the innings.

Mayank Agarwal

Appointed as captain of the side, Mayank Agarwal has a lot of experienced players to bank upon. He has amassed only 195 runs in 12 IPL 2022 games averaging a mere 17.73 but scored his first fifty (52) against MI and is the team’s 6th highest scorer.

Mayank Agarwal scored 441 runs in 12 IPL 2021 games at an average of 40.09. He had an eventful 2020 season where he scored a spectacular ton against the Rajasthan Royals amassing 424 runs in 11 games.

Liam Livingstone

Liam Livingstone should be the middle-order batsman for the team. In last season’s IPL 2021, he opted out of the tournament due to bubble issues.  While his IPL stint was with Rajasthan Royals in 2019, he was one of the biggest Punjab Kings signings – INR 11.50 Cr – during the TATA IPL 2022 auction.

He has scored 388 runs so far in 13 IPL 2022 games averaging 32.33 at an impressive strike rate of 177.98. His 6 wickets in 13 games came at an average of 29.5. He is PBKS’ 2nd highest run-getter.

The Vidarbha wicketkeeper-batter was bought by the PBKS for INR 20 Lac. He has scored 215 runs from 9 IPL 2022 innings averaging 30.71. His best is 44. The likes of batters and all-rounders Prabhsimran Singh, Odean Smith, Benny Howell, Raj Angad Bawa, and Shahrukh Khan are warming the bench and may be considered if Punjab Kins management decides to alter the composition of the playing XI.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa

The Sri Lanka left-handed batter was brought on board for INR 50 Lac. Bhanuka Rajapaksa is known for his ability to strike big with the bat and PBKS will want him to live up to that reputation. He has scored 206 runs in 9 IPL 2022 matches averaging 22.89 at an impressive strike rate of 159.68 and is Punjab’s 5th highest run-getter this season.

Rishi Dhawan

Rishi Dhawan has led from the front for Himachal Pradesh. The all-rounder was his team’s leading run-getter and wicket-taker during their triumphant Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign earlier this year and had an impressive Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy season with the ball.

An experienced campaigner, Rishi Dhawan, will be out to set the stage on fire for Punjab Kings in the IPL 2022. His last IPL match came in 2016 before the IPL 2022 game against CSK. He picked 2 scalps in the match against CSK playing with protective gear. In IPL 2022, he has scored 37 runs and picked 6 scalps in 6 games averaging 26 with the ball in hand.

Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh, the left-arm pacer was one of the only two players retained by Punjab Kings. Arshdeep Singh had a memorable IPL 2021 taking a bagful of wickets and the franchise certainly sees him as a future prospect. It is this season that he has to repay the faith the franchise has placed in him.

Last season, he picked 18 wickets in 12 games for the team at an impressive average of 19.0. He has picked 10 scalps in 13 IPL 2022 games averaging 36.

Kagiso Rabada

With his experience and pace strength, Kagiso Rabada will be a crucial bowler for the team in IPL 2022. Last season, he was part of the Delhi Capitals and scalped 15 wickets in 15 games. Punjab Kings bought him for Rs. 9.25 crores during the auction.

He was IPL 2020’s leading wicket-taker (purple cap winner). He didn’t play the first game of IPL 2022 for being in quarantine. He had picked 22 scalps so far in IPL 2022 playing 12 games and averaging an impressive 16.72 and is Punjab’s leading wicket-taker this season.

Rahul Chahar

Rahul Chahar was picked by Punjab Kings for Rs. 5.25 crores during the IPL 2022 mega auction. Playing for Mumbai Indians last season, the right-arm spinner scalped 13 wickets in 11 games in IPL 2021. In IPL 2022, he has picked 14 scalps in 13 games averaging 25.71 and is Punjab Kings’ 2nd highest wicket-taker.

Harpreet Brar

Harpreet Brar might be another player part of the Punjab Kings’ playing XI. The franchise bought him for Rs. 3.8 crores during IPL 2022 auction. The orthodox spinner made his IPL debut in 2019 and played two games and was retained by PBKS ahead of the 2020 season.

Although he featured only in one game in the 13th edition-IPL 2020, the Punjab Kings showed faith in the left-arm spinner, further retaining him for the 2021 season and he repaid that, putting one of his finest performances against RCB, dismissing Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and AB de Villiers.

He has played 4 IPL 2022 games and has picked only 1 wicket-that of Glenn Maxwell returning with figures of 1/33 against RCB. He may be given another chance or may be replaced by pacer Vaibhav Arora (3 scalps in 5 games), pacer Ishan Porel or uncapped spinner Writtick Chatterjee. Ansh Patel, Atharva Taide, and Prerak Mankad are the other options in the squad.
