Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, And Mohammed Siraj Retained By Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) For IPL 2022. Royal Challengers Bangalore announced their retentions list for IPL 2022. The franchise has retained 3 players in their squad for the next season. IPL 2022 will observe the addition of 2 new teams in the tournament. Hence, a mega auction is scheduled to take place ahead of the next year’s tournament.

Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, the old 8 franchises were asked to retain a maximum of 4 players in their squads. Out of these 4 players, only 3 can be the maximum number of domestic players while 2 can be the maximum number of overseas players. Hence, a team can either pick 2 domestic players and 2 overseas players or 3 domestic players and 1 overseas player. Every team can retain 1, 2, 3, 4, or no players as per their choice.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Announce IPL 2022 Retentions List

Royal Challengers Bangalore announced their retentions list for IPL 2022. The three-time runners-up RCB retained 3 players in their squad. The franchise has retained Virat Kohli, Gleen Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj.

Royal Challengers Bangalore gave a good show in the IPL 2021 and reached the playoffs. During the league stage, the Virat Kohli-led side played 14 games. They won 9 matches and lost 5. With 18 points, they bagged the 3rd spot in the points table and qualified for playoffs. However, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost the Eliminator match to Kolkata Knight Riders and were out of the tournament.

After the release of IPL 2022 retentions list, the two new franchises can choose 3 players from the pool of released players. Out of these 3 players, 2 should be Indian players while only 1 can be an overseas player. Both the franchises can select their players from December 1 to December 25, 2021.

All the teams will have a salary purse of Rs. 90 crore for IPL 2022 mega auction. However, the salary cap will have respective deductions due to retentions. If a team retains 4 players, Rs. 42 crore will be deducted from their purse.

If a team retains 3 players, Rs. 33 crore will be reduced from their salary purse. Similarly, Rs. 24 crore and Rs. 14 crores will be deducted for teams with 2 and 1 retentions respectively. IPL 2022 mega auction is expected to take place in January 2022.
