Entire IPL 2020 Can Be Held In Mumbai: Report

Mumbai might be one of the worst-hit cities in India due to the novel coronavirus pandemic but the entire season of the IPL 2020 can be held in the city according to various media reports. As per the original schedule, IPL 2020 was  to begin from March 29 but it was first deferred to April 15 before being postponed indefinitely as the parent body has been stubborn on their wait and watch policy.

More so, because, the cricket board might incur a loss of Rs. 4000 crore if the lucrative tournament. The cricket board CEO Raul Johri had said that the lucrative tournament can take place after monsoon with international stars.

IPL 2020 can happen in India by October in Mumbai: BCCI official

A BCCI official told PTI that the entire season of IPL can be played in Mumbai by October if situation return to normal. It is also considered as the option as it will be easier for the cricket board, broadcasters (Star Sports), maintaining a bio-bubble, everything could be managed smoothly.

“It’s at a very preliminary stage but if IPL happens in India and by October, situation is under control in Mumbai, there are four top-class floodlit grounds available in Mumbai. The logistics for BCCI, broadcasters (Star Sports), maintaining a bio-bubble, everything could be managed smoothly,” another BCCI official told PTI.

Meanwhile, speculations about the 2020 T20 World Cup being postponed to next year is rife, which only further opens up doors for the IPL 2020 to take up the October slot to host the tournament.

But the cricket board treasurer Arun Dhumal had hinted that they are in no mood to influence the governing council to postpone the marquee tournament for their own benefit.

The fate of 2020 T20 World Cup could be decided on July 10.
