IPL 2020 will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), its chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed after the global governing council postponed the 2020 T20 World Cup to next year. IPL 2020 is likely to get underway in September and will run till November. However, the dates are still to be confirmed.

Suresh Raina, Kuldeep Yadav, Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma have already started training. International stars like Kane Williamson have also hit the deck in anticipation of the IPL 2020 which looks like the first lucrative franchise tournament set to get underway in a pandemic situation.

Commentator Aakash Chopra feels that everyone should forget whatever has happened in the past 12 months. He also reckoned that no team will have advantage with the IPL being played in UAE as it be a neutral venue with not much home support. He also added that every team will start at par with each other.

“Whatever has happened in the past 12 years, you need to forget it, as this year if the IPL happens in the UAE then there is no distinctive advantage for any team. If you play matches at neutral venues, then there is no home support and no familiarity with the pitches.

“Every team will be starting at par with each other. Mumbai and Chennai are top-class teams, they will eventually catch up even if they get off to a slow start,” Aakash Chopra said in a video posted on his official YouTube channel.

Chopra also spoke about RCB in particular, who are still to win the tournament. He said that they don’t have a great bowling line-up but Yuzvendra Chahal and Pawan Negi will have a big role to play for the franchise as their will be big grounds.
