The remaining games of IPL 2021 will take place in the United Arab Emirates immediately after the culmination of India’s Test series against England.

But, one of the major issues that the BCCI will have to deal with is regarding the availability of overseas players for the UAE leg.

If the overseas players do not feature during the second phase of the IPL, then SunRisers Hyderbad, whose entire game-plan is centered around their marquee foreign recruits, will be one of the most severely affected franchise.

Here’s a look at 4 SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) Players Who Might Miss The UAE Leg Of The IPL 2021:

Kane Williamson

Kane Williamson was appointed SunRisers Hyderabad captain during the India leg of IPL 2021 following David Warner’s sacking.

However, Williamson could only lead the “Orange Army in a solitary game as the IPL got suspended due to Covid.

But, will Williamson return to the IPL in September? Well! It’s looking increasingly tricky. First of all, the Kiwis are scheduled to lock horns with Pakistan in a series of white-ball internationals around the same time.

Secondly, Williamson has been grappled with an elbow injury for some time now. He missed the first few games of IPL 2021 due to the same injury and now he has been ruled out from the 2nd Test of the ongoing series against England.

With the T20 World Cup set to follow the IPL, the New Zealand skipper may look to opt-out of the competition to give himself the best possible chance to be physically and mentally fresh for the marquee quadrennial event.

Jonny Bairstow

Jonny Bairstow was one of the few bright sparks for the SunRisers Hyderabad in IPL 2021 before the tournament got halted prematurely.

In 7 outings, Bairstow had smoked 248 runs at an average of 41.33 and a blistering strike rate of 141.71 with two 50+ scores.

However,  it is looking unlikely that Bairstow will join SRH for the UAE leg of the IPL. The reasons are twofold.

  • England is likely to lock horns with Bangladesh and Pakistan in white-ball fixtures at the same time.
  • England Cricket director Ashley Giles has made it clear that no English player will be allowed to feature in the UAE leg of the IPL even if the players are rested for the aforementioned rubbers.

Jason Roy

Jason Roy was gutted when he went unsold during the 2021 auction.

However, as luck would have it, the English swashbuckling opener was roped in as a replacement for Mitch Marsh by SRH.

But, Roy did not get a single game even when David Warner was dropped from the playing 11.

And,  with Ashley Giles making it clear that no English player will be allowed to feature in the second phase of IPL 2021, it is looking increasingly unlikely that Roy will feature for SRH this season.

David Warner

David Warner endured his worst possible IPL season this year.

One of the all-time great IPL batters, Warner managed just 193 runs in 6 innings at an average of 32.16 and a strike rate of 110.28 with two 50+ scores.

He was eventually stripped of leadership duties and dumped from the playing 11.

Warner is in doubt to feature for Australia during the upcoming tours of the West Indies and Bangladesh due to bio-bubble fatigue issues. And, with chances of him featuring in the playing 11 for SRH slum, the 2016 IPL-winner could well opt-out of the UAE leg.
