Mumbai Indians hardly needed to purchase players in the IPL 2021 auction as they have their eleven stacked by retaining the core that helped them win their fifth IPL crown in 2020. But the defending champions did buy back-up players, having entered the bidding function with INR 15.35 crores in their kitty. And Mumbai Indians filled all their seven slots.

Of the four overseas places, Mumbai Indians filled it with three pacers, including Adam Milne, Nathan Coulter-Nile, and Marco Jensen, while the remaining one went to James Neesham. However, with the tournament likely to occur in India, the franchise did not need many pacemen. Experienced spinner Piyush Chawla came off as a backup for Rahul Chahar while James Neesham was for Kieron Pollard.

Youngster Arjun Tendulkar picked up at his base price, could be a surprise package. Hence, Mumbai Indians’ rendition at the IPL 2021 auction could be rated as 8. With the squad, they have accumulated currently, the defending champions could win another crown.
