Rajasthan Royals were one of the busiest teams in the IPL 2021 auction, buying eight players and solving their bowling problems that significantly contributed to their bottom position in IPL 2020. The inaugural IPL champions stunned the cricketing fraternity by emptying their bank on Chris Morris, who fetched a record sum of INR 16.25 crores. It made him the costliest player in IPL auction history, surpassing INR 16 crores earned by Yuvraj Singh in 2015.

Chris Morris serves as an apt new-ball bowling partner for spearhead Jofra Archer and can be a back-up all-rounder for Ben Stokes. The Royals’ decision of recruiting Liam Livingstone, Mustafizur Rahman and picking up promising youngsters like KC Cariappa, Akash Singh, Kuldip Yadav, Chetan Sakariya, and Shivam Dube also bodes well for their various departments. Hence, their performance in the auction could be rated as 8 out of ten.
