SunRisers Hyderabad had the quietest day during the IPL 2021 auction as they had only three slots to fill along with INR 10.75 crores in their purse. Hence, they bought only three players in the event, of which only one was overseas. SunRisers Hyderabad, who finished third in IPL 2020, have most of their bases covered after retaining most of the players.
The Orange Army shockingly went for Kedar Jadhav, who earlier went unsold in the auction. Mentor VVS Laxman justified Jadhav’s purchase saying that his experience will strengthen their middle-order. The veteran right-handed batsman endured a terrible outing in IPL 2020 for the Chennai Super Kings, playing eight matches and managing 62 runs while keeping a strike rate of below 100.
IPL 2021 Auction: SunRisers Hyderabad’s Performance Ratings
The 2016 champions bolstered their spin-bowling unit further, recruiting Jagadeesha Suchith and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who will join his fellow countrymen – Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi. One area where the SunRisers could have focussed is getting an express foreign paceman as they have none in their ranks, mainly after releasing Billy Stanlake. Nevertheless, they get a rating of 6.5 after their IPL 2021 auction.
