IPL 2021: I Am Very Excited To Meet Chris Gayle, Says PBKS’ New Recruit Shah Rukh Khan

Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) new recruit Shah Rukh Khan is eagerly looking forward to meeting the PBKS captain KL Rahul and head coach-director of operations Anil Kumble. However, the most excited he is to meet the Universe Boss Chris Gayle.

Chris Gayle was bought by Punjab Kings in the IPL 2018 auction for his base price, and since then, has become a vital cog for the Punjab-based franchise. Even in the last IPL 2020 edition, Chris Gayle had missed the first seven matches, out of which the Kings lost six matches. However, the moment he joined the playing XI, Kings won their next 6 matches and almost qualified for the playoffs.

He (Chris Gayle) Hits The Ball So Hard And Is A Dangerous Batman: Shah Rukh Khan

The 25-year-old Tamil Nadu batsman Shah Rukh Khan was part of the victorious Tamil Nadu team which won the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament this year, under the captaincy of Dinesh Karthik. He also came to the limelight for his amazing 19-ball 40* knock in the quarterfinals against Himachal Pradesh, which put the Tamil Nadu team in the semis.

In the IPL 2021 auction, Shah Rukh Khanwas bought by PBKS for Rs 5.25 crores and changed his life in a few minutes, given that his base price was just Rs, 20 lakhs. Shah Rukh Khan is excited about the chance to share the dressing room with the likes of KL Rahul and Chris Gayle at Punjab Kings.

“I know KL Rahul and have met him a couple of times but I am very excited to meet Chris Gayle. He hits the ball so hard. He is a dangerous batman. I am really happy that I will be sharing the dressing room with seniors like KL and Gayle. I am really thankful to Punjab for showing faith in me,” Shah Rukh Khan told TimesofIndia.com.

“I am looking forward to meeting Anil (Kumble) sir and want to ask him a lot of things. It is going to be a huge learning experience for me. I will look to justify my place in the team. Big thanks to them, they took me in their team. I am sure I will deliver and will do my best for the team,” the 25-year-old further said.

The youngster also revealed that he was in fact named after the Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan as his mother’s sister was a huge fan of the actor.
