Australian superstar Glenn Maxwell was once again the center of attraction when his name came up in the IPL 2021 Auction and a bidding war started for the all-rounder. This was after he had a disappointing IPL 2020 season.

Maxwell, who had turned out for Punjab Kings in the IPL 2020, which was played in UAE, made just 108 runs in the entire outing, and though he is known for hitting the balls out of the grounds, couldn’t manage to hit a single six in the entire 2020 edition.

However, he still managed to get Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore interested in him and the two franchises battled it hard even when the bidding price crossed the Rs. 10-crore mark. Finally, CSK had to back out of the bidding and RCB welcomed Maxwell into the fold with a final bid of INR 14.25 crore.

Looking Forward To Hitting This IPL Full Steam Ahead And Getting RCB To Win Their 1st Title This Year- Glenn Maxwell

The ‘big show’ as Glenn Maxwell is known for his freakish hitting abilities, is one of the most exciting prospects ever since he joined the IPL in 2012. Since then he has played 82 matches, making 1505 runs at a strike rate of 154.67 with 6 half-centuries and 91 sixes to his name. He has also captained the Punjab Kings franchise.

He will be joining the likes of Josh Philippe, Virat Kohli, and AB de Villiers in the RCB batting unit and will look to ease the pressure on Kohli and De Villiers, who have carried the RCB batting for the past few years now.

Royal Challengers Bangalore took to their official Instagram handle to share the video message of their new recruit Glenn Maxwell.
