IPL 2023 Auction: List Of Retained Players To Be Submitted By The Teams By November 15 – Reports

The process for the IPL 2023 auction has begun as all ten Indian Premier League (IPL) teams have been asked by the board to submit the list of the retained players by November 15, reported ESPNcricinfo on Sunday, October 16.

The date for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction, which will be a mini-auction, has not been officially announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, a few reports have stated that the Indian Premier League 2023 auction will take in Bengaluru on December 16.

Meanwhile, in addition to the money left over from the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction, each team will have an additional INR 5 crore to spend at the Indian Premier League 2023 auction. This will lead to the teams having a purse of INR 95 crore.

After the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction, Punjab Kings had INR 3.45 crore left in their purse, Chennai Super Kings had INR 2.95, Royal Challengers Bangalore had INR 1.55 crore, Rajasthan Royals had INR 0.95 crore, Kolkata Knight Riders had INR 0.45 crore, Gujarat Titans had INR 0.15 crore and three teams – Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals – had INR 0.10 crore.

Notably, debutants Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were the only team at the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction that had exhausted the entire purse.

Cameron Green, Ben Stokes, And Sam Curran Expected To Attract Big Bids At The IPL 2023 Auction

Fast-bowling all-rounders have always been in heavy demand at the Indian Premier League auctions and in this year’s auction, England’s premier all-rounder Ben Stokes and his teammate Sam Curran along with Australia’s young all-rounder Cameron Green are expected to attract big bids if they decide to enter the auction.

Meanwhile, the teams like Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants have one overseas spot each left in the squad and they could look to fill that spot at the IPL 2023 auction.

Also, the six teams that brought in injury replacements during IPL 2022 will have to make a decision on whether they want to retain the replacement player or the original player or both.

The Indian Premier League will go back to the home-and-away format after three long years in the Indian Premier League 2023. The Indian Premier League 2020 was held entirely in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Indian Premier League 2021 was played in two different phases due to the Covid-19 pandemic with one phase being held in India and the other phase taking place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The IPL 2022, however, was held in India, but not in the home-and-away format.
