IPL 2021 is set to start within two weeks. The tournament will commence on April 9, 2021, with the first match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. There are 6 venues where all the matches of IPL 2021 will be played. 8 teams will play a total of 60 matches during IPL 2021 for the title.

With the start of IPL 2021 next month, the race for the title will begin. Along with the race for the title, the race for awards such as orange cap and purple cap will also begin. The orange cap is given to the highest run-scorer of the tournament while the purple cap is given to the highest wicket-taker of the tournament.

Over the years, many bowlers have shown spectacular performances in the IPL tournaments and won the purple cap. The winner of the purple cap in an IPL tournament is adjusted as the best bowler of the tournament too. Over the years, many bowlers have won the purple cap in the Indian Premier League. Pakistan cricketer Sohail Tanvir was the highest wicket-taker in the 1st edition of the Indian Premier League in 2008. He bagged the purple cap after scalping most 22 wickets from 11 matches while playing for Rajasthan Royals

IPL 2009 – RP Singh

RP Singh won the purple cap in IPL 2009 as he was the highest wicket-taker in the tournament. RP Singh took 23 wickets in 16 matches for Deccan Chargers.

IPL 2010 – Pragyan Ojha

Spinner Pragyan Ojha won the purple cap in IPL 2010 after bagging most 21 wickets in 16 matches. He was part of Deccan Chargers in IPL 2010.

IPL 2011- Lasith Malinga
