There are 6 venues where all the matches of IPL 2021 will be played. 8 teams will play a total of 60 matches during IPL 2021 for the title.

The orange cap is given to the highest run-scorer of the tournament while the purple cap is given to the highest wicket-taker of the tournament.

IPL 2008 – Sohail Tanvir
Pakistan cricketer Sohail Tanvir was the highest wicket-taker in the 1st edition of the Indian Premier League in 2008. He bagged the purple cap after scalping most 22 wickets from 11 matches while playing for Rajasthan Royals
IPL 2009 – RP Singh
RP Singh won the purple cap in IPL 2009 as he was the highest wicket-taker in the tournament. RP Singh took 23 wickets in 16 matches for Deccan Chargers.
IPL 2010 – Pragyan Ojha
Spinner Pragyan Ojha won the purple cap in IPL 2010 after bagging most 21 wickets in 16 matches. He was part of Deccan Chargers in IPL 2010.
IPL 2011- Lasith Malinga
Lasith Malinga was the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2011 and won the purple cap. The Mumbai Indians bowler took 28 wickets in 16 matches in the season.
IPL 2012- Morne Morkel
South African cricketer Morne Morkel was the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2012 and won the purple cap. While playing for Delhi Capitals, Morkel scalped 25 wickets in 16 matches.
IPL 2013 – Dwayne Bravo
Dwayne Bravo won the purple cap while playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2013. Bravo took the most wickets in the season with 32 wickets in 18 matches.
IPL 2014- Mohit Sharma
Mohit Sharma was the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2014 and won the purple cap. While playing for Chennai Super Kings, Mohit Sharma grabbed 23 wickets in 16 matches.
IPL 2015- Dwayne Bravo
Dwayne Bravo won the purple cap for the 2nd time in IPL 2015. The Chennai Super Kings player took 26 wickets in 17 matches, the most by any player in the season.
IPL 2016- Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar won the purple cap in IPL 2016 as he was the highest wicket-taker in the season. Buvneshwar Kumar took 23 wickets in 17 matches while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
IPL 2017- Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar won the purple cap for the 2nd consecutive time in IPL 2017 after he took the most wickets in the season. Playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kumar scalped most 26 wickets in 14 matches in the season.
IPL 2018- Andrew Tye
Andrew Tye played for Punjab Kings in IPL 2018 and won the purple cap in the tournament. He was the highest wicket-taker with 24 wickets in 14 matches.
IPL 2019- Imran Tahir
South African spinner Imran Tahir was the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2019 and won the purple cap. While playing for Chennai Super Kings, Tahir grabbed 26 wickets in 17 matches.
IPL 2020- Kagiso Rabada
While playing for Delhi Capitals, Kagiso Rabada won the purple cap in IPL 2020. Rabada scalped 30 wickets in 17 matches in the tournament.
