India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja first joined the franchise in the year 2012, revealing how his former CSK teammate Suresh Raina convinced him to get a special hairstyle paying a tribute to the yellow brigade.
Jadeja joined the Chennai Super Kings after he was banned for the IPL 2011 year for negotiating larger financial deals with other franchises and not signing a new deal with Rajasthan Royals for whom he played from 2008 to 2010. He has had great success with the franchise, winning two IPL titles in 2018 and 2021.
However, it was his first year in the Chennai den when he decided to get a special haircut and has now revealed the entire story behind that look, which also involves former CSK mainstay, Suresh Raina.
Why Don’t You Write CSK On Your Head?: Ravindra Jadeja Reveals That Suresh Raina Had Suggested That Unique Haircut To Him
Jadeja has completed 10 years in the yellow jersey and overall in 200 matches, has scored 2386 runs, and picked 127 wickets. He has won three IPL titles thus far, one with Rajasthan Royals in 2008 and two with Chennai Super Kings in 2018 and 2021.
The franchise shared a video recently with the Saurashtra player talking about the memories with the side and a few anecdotes regarding some of the best moments he has had with the Men in Yellow.
One such moment he shared was when he first joined the CSK in 2012. He was bought by the MS Dhoni-led franchise in 2012 in a $2 million tie-breaker at the auction. Jadeja showed his love for the franchise by getting CSK carved onto the side of his head in a unique hairstyle that was liked by many.
On the 10th anniversary of his time in yellow, he chose to reveal how and why he got that particular haircut.
Jadeja said, “Me and (Suresh) Raina bhai were thinking about, let’s get a haircut. So we went to the barber shop and we both were having a haircut.
“So, he finished his haircut and he was standing next to me and he said to me, ‘Why don’t you do something different?’ I said ‘what do you mean?’ So he said, ‘Okay I have an idea. Put you name on your head.’ I said ‘No, no no! That’s not gonna work. That looks funny.
“So he said, ‘I have one more idea. This is your first year with CSK. Why don’t you write CSK on your head?’ I said, ‘okay why not? I can do that.’ So that’s why I wrote CSK on my head,” Jadeja further said.
