Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) contingent has boarded the flight to the UAE for the second leg of the IPL 2021. The tournament was postponed earlier this year and will resume in the UAE on September 19.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Mumbai Indians (MI) Delhi Capitals (DC), have already reached the destination to prepare for the league. Following arrival, the team will go into mandatory quarantine as the other franchisees did.

The franchise from Bangalore confirmed the departure on its Twitter page, with the caption: “The RCB family en route UAE! Bring on #IPL2021. #PlayBold #WeAreChallengers #TravelDay.

Indian pacer Navdeep Saini also tweeted a picture with franchise teammates Devdutt Padikkal and Shubhang Hegde. Mohammed Azharuddeen and Sachin Baby, also part of the contingent, shared pictures from the flight.

Having had issues almost every season, either with their batting or their bowling, RCB filled the gaps and strengthened the squad. It was a more complete outfit, and the results showed in the first half of the IPL.

They won their first four games in a row, before being annihilated by CSK. It didn’t affect their morale as the team then defeated table-toppers DC and now are now in third place with five wins out of seven.

They have also made new additions to the squad. Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera, Tim David, and George Garton were added to the overseas list, thereby strengthening their lower middle-order for the second half.

In the 2021 auction, the franchise had acquired the services of Kiwi pacer Kyle Jamieson and Australian swashbuckling batsman Glenn Maxwell. The two have delivered the goods so far, and alongside them, the team will be relying on AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli’s experience to help them through.

Their first game after resumption will be against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on September 20.
