Star Australian opening batsman David Warner has labelled the marquee Indian Premier League (IPL) as the “best tournament in the world”.

Senior opening batsman Warner has a plethora of experience of playing in the Indian Premier League and he is the fifth-highest run-getter in the history of the Indian Premier League with 5449 runs under his belt in 150 matches.

Meanwhile, in his conversation with legendary Australian pace bowler Brett Lee, Warner said that he uses the insight of playing in the Indian Premier League when the Australian team visit India. Warner said on ‘The Brett Lee podcast’:

“When I go to India, I see it as playing the best tournament in the world. But I am getting a lot of practice and insight for when I have to go there for Australia, whether it is for Tests or ODIs.”

Meanwhile, the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction is all set to take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru and Warner is amongst the 47 Aussie players who will go under the hammer.

Australian David Warner said that everyone in India is very humble and the fans have welcomed his family with open arms. He asserted:

“The number one thing for me is how humble everyone is there (in India). They have welcomed my family with open arms and obviously me for the last decade.”

Warner further added that he loves meeting his fans in India despite being aware of the fact that there is a security risk. He also said that the Indian fans have given him a lot and he owes India. He elaborated:

“I love going out and meeting people there. I know it can be a security risk at times because we can create a bit of a crowd. I love mixing with the locals. They have given me so much. I think we owe India a lot. I’d love to be involved in some of their programs with cricket.”
