IPL 2018: Five Royal Challengers Bangalore Players Who May be Released Next Season

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had yet another disappointing season in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Virat Kohli-led team managed to win only six matches in the 14 games of the league stages. Thus, the Men in Red could not qualify for the playoffs once again.

Meanwhile, the performances of some of the RCB players were ordinary. Thus, these players could be shown the exit from the Royal Challengers Bangalore team. In fact, RCB could not deliver consistent performances which ruled them out of the tournament.

Let’s take a look at Five Royal Challengers Bangalore who may be released in next edition:

Sarfaraz Khan:

Sarfaraz Khan was retained by Royal Challengers before the IPL auctions. However, the youngster was not able to live up to the expectations.

Furthermore, Sarfaraz will need to work on his fitness to play at the topmost level in the foreseeable future. The right-hander scored only 51 runs in the six innings in the recently-concluded season of the Twenty20 league.

Consequently, the youngster failed to give the finishing touches to the Bangalore innings.

Thus, the young lad can be shown the exit door from the Royal Challengers camp.

Pawan Negi:

Pawan Negi received limited opportunities for the Men in Red. The bowling all-rounder managed to play only two matches for Kohli-led side.

The left-arm spinner scalped a solitary wicket in the couple of matches he played in the season. However, he conceded his runs at a higher economy of 12.25.

The RCB all-rounder scored only three runs in the two innings in this edition of IPL.

Corey Anderson:

Anderson was on the expensive side with the ball:

Corey Anderson could not deliver the goods with both bat and ball for the Royal Challengers. In fact, Kiwi all-rounder turned out to be expensive in almost every match he played.

Anderson scored only 17 runs in the three matches he played. The all-rounder scalped three wickets in the same number of matches.

Furthermore, Anderson was on the expensive side as he leaked his runs at an economy of 13.26.

The Blackcaps player was later dropped by the Royal Challengers from the playing XI. Thus, Anderson might be released by the Bangalore franchise.

Brendon McCullum:

Brendon McCullum failed to give a good platform to the RCB side at the top of the order.

The former New Zealand skipper could not utilise his experience to give a good start owing to his sheer aggression.

McCullum scored only 127 runs in the six matches he played for the Men in Red. Thus, he can be released by the think tank of the RCB unit.

Furthermore, McCullum has turned 36 and he isn’t at the top of his fitness.

In fact, McCullum was dropped in the later matches after his dismal performance.

However, RCB might resist with the former Kiwi leader as he is known for his pyrotechnics.

Murugan Ashwin:

Murugan Ashwin received limited opportunities for the RCB. The Tamil Nadu-based spinner took three wickets in two matches he played in the eleventh season.

However, Ashwin fielding was not up to the mark. The leg-spinner bungled a catch which costed a match to the RCB team.

Ashwin gave away his runs at an economy of 7.57. Consequently, could be axed from Royal Challengers Bangalore team in the next season of the IPL.
