Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has revealed an interesting reason following the third Indian Premier League title victory in the successful Twenty20 league history. Dhoni whose favourite number is seven, related some of the winning statistics to the number.

Meanwhile, we all know that Dhoni is not a player who gives more importance to numbers. In fact, what matters more to him is the success of the team.

Eventually, the Super Kings were able to come up with roses on the back of the great team effort against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Chennai went on to win their third IPL crown after winning against Hyderabad by eight wickets and nine balls to spare. The Men in Yellow delivered a collective team effort throughout the season, before laying hands on yet another coveted trophy at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday (May 27) night.

Third IPL title for the Chennai Super Kings:

Dhoni went on to say during the post-match ceremony, “Very difficult to recall what the earlier championship wins were. A lot of people talk about stats, so tonight is 27th, my jersey number is seven and this is the seventh final for us. Enough reasons to win it. But none of these reasons matter, what matters is that we’ve won it in the end.”

It was a fine performance from the Dhoni-led team. Dhoni is known to get best out of his players and he was able to do that once again.

The experienced campaigner and an astute thinker, Dhoni has always led with aplomb and his great leadership skills were once again on display.

Chennai was consistent right through the competition and deserved to be crowned as the IPL champions.

Dhoni added that everybody knew their role, “By the time you reach the final everybody know their roles. The fielders have to adjust their roles while fielding, but while batting the styles are well known. So if somebody is finding it difficult in the middle, you know the incoming batsmen wouldn’t find it easy as well”.

It wasn’t easy for the Super Kings as they were coming back into the IPL after two-year hiatus. Credit should go to the players, team management, and Dhoni to hit the ground running.

Most importantly, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was also able to find his form in this season. Dhoni scored 455 runs in the 15 innings he played in the IPL 2018.
