Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly predicts that Rishabh Pant will soon play for the Indian national team. Pant played a blazing knock of unbeaten 128 off just 63 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the last match. However, left-hander’s knock went in vain as Delhi Daredevils (DD) lost the match by nine wickets.

Ganguly added that opportunities will be handed over to the young talented players. The former Indian skipper believes that Ishan Kishan, who scored a blistering knock of 62 against KKR will also get his chances.

Pant tour de force was on display.

“For Rishabh, it will happen, he will get there… I think he is the future,” Ganguly said at a promotional programme of Cycle Pure Agarbathies as he was quoted by PTI.

The Prince of Kolkata Ganguly added that there is a lot of time for young talents like Pant and Kishan.

“For the likes of Pant, Ishan Kishan (who scored a 21-ball 62), time will come. They are young there’s no hurry. Both will get matured as they play more games with time. They will play for India in the years to come,” Ganguly said.

However, Ganguly also believes that these players should be consistent with their performances to make their way into the national team.

Pant has thus far played only four Twenty20 Internationals for the Indian team.

“But having said that consistency is important, hope it’s not just one off. I was reading about Ishan Kishan after that knock in Kolkata… When you pick someone for the country, you look at consistency — how many times does he keep doing that. Yes, T20 is different, opportunities are a lot lesser,” Ganguly added.

Pants displayed his pyrotechnics.

Meanwhile, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has regained his prolific form. Ganguly added that one cannot replaceDhoni at the moment. He eventually believes that Dinesh Karthik also deserves his chances.

“At the present moment, MS Dhoni is there. You can’t replace MS at the moment, then you have Dinesh Karthik who also deserves a chance in the national side, especially after what he did in Sri Lanka to win that game which was absolutely lost for India. Dinesh deserves more than anybody else because I think he is a very very good player,” the former southpaw added.

Rishabh Pant was at the top of his game as he smashed the best bowling line-up in this edition of the IPL.

The young player in the form of Pant is expected to get his opportunities for the Indian team. Thus, Pant is expected to grab his chances in the time to come.
