Mumbai Indians (MI) are crowned as the champions of the IPL 2020. They become the second team to defend their title after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) did it in 2011 successfully. Apart from their international stars, the youngsters like Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, and Rahul Chahar played a key role in MI retaining the title.

Similar to the champions, youngsters from other teams as well have risen to the occasion. The IPL provided them with a perfect platform to display their skill and talent in front of the world.

5 Players Who Have Impressed The Most In IPL 2020:

Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan always had the potential – he was after all India’s Under-19 captain in recent times – but this season he converted it to runs and match-winning knocks. Replacing the injured Saurabh Tiwary in the team, Kishan didn’t put a foot wrong. The left-hander ended the season as Mumbai’s highest scorer amassing 516 runs at an average of 57 and a strike rate of 145 with four half-centuries.

When Rohit Sharma got injured, the youngster opened the innings — and tore apart the opposition bowling attack. The 22-year-old also played the floater role in the middle-order with ease. Kishan’s audacity to play risky shots and the ability to clear the fence with ease has been the highlight of the youngster’s season. He hit 30 sixes in the tournament – the most by any batsman in IPL 2020.

Devdutt Padikkal lived up to the hype around him since last year. Playing his maiden IPL season, Padikkal finished the tournament as Royal Challengers Bangalore’s leading run-scorer – achieving this feat in a team with Aaron Finch, Virat Kohli, and AB de Villiers is nothing short of a dream.

The 20-year-old amassed 473 runs in 15 matches with five half-centuries to his name. The left-hander has been the most impressive youngster of the season and will be a vital cog in the upcoming years for RCB.

Despite scoring tons of runs in domestic cricket, Suryakumar Yadav went unnoticed year-after-year. But after being snubbed for Australia T20s, in IPL 2020 Yadav ensured that everyone – even the national team captain – will remember him.

The right-hander has scored over 400 runs in 2018 and 2019 IPL season as well, but with a lower strike rate. This season he has a strike rate of close to 150. He has shown great adaptability in different match situations and calm temperament, especially in run chases. After knocking on the selection door for years, Suryakumar this season, is ready to break the whole thing down.

Marcus Stoinis

This could have been his last IPL season, as Marcus Stoinis is pushing into the early thirties and plenty of overseas all-rounders waiting for an IPL contract. But Stoinis, riding on his huge success in the Big Bash League and a recall to the national team, has not only done exceedingly well individually but also took Delhi to the final.

The right-hander has won matches for Delhi both with ball and bat in hand. The burly Australian scored 352 runs at a strike rate of 148 in addition to picking 13 wickets. He was one of the only four players in the Delhi squad who have played all the 17 matches.

Anrich Nortje

Anrich Nortje, who has played 7 ODIs and 3 T20Is for South-Africa wasn’t a much-renowned name before the IPL 2020. However, Nortje, who was a replacement for Chris Woakes, has displayed his capability of bowling at a high pace. He broke the record of the fastest ball in the IPL with his 156.22 Kmph thunderbolt.

Nortje was as perfect a second-fiddle to Kagiso Rabada as Delhi could have hoped. The right-arm fast snared 22 wickets at an economy of 8.39.
