IPL 2021: Giving Virat Kohli The IPL Title Will Be Cherry On The Cake - KS Bharat

Royal Challengers Bangalore wicketkeeper-batsman KS Bharat, who starred in the win versus Delhi Capitals with a last-ball six, wished to give his skipper Virat Kohli his maiden IPL title.

With 5 runs needed off the last ball, KS Bharat smacked Avesh Khan for a maximum down the ground and ended a memorable knock of 78 unbeaten runs off 52 balls.

Virat Kohli had earlier announced that he will be stepping down as RCB’s captain after this season, and also as India’s T20I skipper at the end of the T20 World Cup. For KS Bharat, it has been a “very big feeling” playing alongside Kohli at RCB.

“Yes definitely winning the cup and giving Virat bhai the IPL title will be cherry on the cake, but if you ask me, playing with Virat Bhai is a very big feeling,” KS Bharat said in the virtual press conference.

Speaking further on his captain, KS Bharat lauded Kohli’s leadership and the encouragement he provides to the youngsters. He also commenced Kohli’s work ethic on the field and his friendly nature off it.

“Virat loves youngsters, he encourages youngsters. He works incredibly hard like any other young player in RCB. He is a thorough professional and playing with him gives an element of confidence to us. He is a very friendly guy, he is always there, he is always ready to guide us. I am blessed to be around him,” he added.

Our focus has been on one game at a time: KS Bharat

RCB finished third in the points table and will next face Kolkata Knight Riders in Eliminator on Monday in Sharjah. The 28-year-old stated that the team has been focusing on a single game at a time and will prepare well for the Eliminator.

“Our focus has been on one game at a time it can be any team, any given day or any ground. So numbers or teams, players, it doesn’t matter. What matters the most is, our preparation, our consistency and intent,” the wicket-keeper added.

The Qualifier 1 will be between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings on Sunday in Dubai.
