Ravindra Jadeja was the toast of the day as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) walloped the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their latest bout in the ongoing IPL 2021. He was amazing in the field and with the ball as well, as RR collapsed big time in chasing down a 190-run target.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batted first at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai after RR captain Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to field. Faf du Plessis had top-scored with 33 runs while Ambati Rayudu (27) and Moeen Ali (26) contributed to the cause as well.

Chetan Sakariya with 3/36 and Chris Morris with 2/33 were the best bowlers for the Sanju Samson-led side.

Ravindra Jadeja is undoubtedly one of the best fielders in the world and his abilities in the field were on display in their full glory against the Royals in Mumbai. On 19th April 2021, Jadeja was in the thick of the action on the field.

He took 4 catches in the match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Mumbai. All the catches were taken by Jadeja when he was fielding on the boundary. Apart from this, he also picked 2 wickets that of highest scorer Jos Buttler for 49 and Shivam Dube for 17.

This led to an 8-year-old tweet from CSK captain MS Dhoni resurfacing on social media. In 2013, Dhoni had praised Jadeja’s fielding and the Sir Jadeja meme was born. He had tweeted that Jadeja does not run to take a catch, but the ball manages to find him and lands in his hand.

“Sir jadeja doesn’t run to take the catch but the ball finds him and lands on his hand, ”Dhoni tweeted.

Apart from Buttler, none of the other batsmen could get going and Rajasthan Royals ended their 20 overs on 143/9. Rahul Tewatia (20) and Jaydev Unadkat (24) tried to lessen the margin of defeat, but the pink army still lost the match by 45 runs.

Sam Curran picked 2/24, Ravindra Jadeja took 2/28, but the best bowling came from Moeen Ali, who picked 3/7 in 3 overs and also won the Man of the Match for his efforts.
