IPL 2021: Updated Points Table, Orange Cap, And Purple Cap Table After MI vs PBKS

In the 42nd match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 between Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) and KL Rahul-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, September 28. Team Mumbai Indians won by 6 wickets.

Notably, Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians were entering the match with a humiliating loss in the previous game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). On the other hand, KL Rahul’s Punjab Kings were victorious in the last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians won the toss and they decided to field first. Notably, the Rohit Sharma-led side was entering the game with a couple of changes as Ishan Kishan was dropped and Saurabh Tiwary was added to the team and Nathan Coulter-Nile replaced Adam Milne. Meanwhile, on the Punjab Kings side Mayank Agarwal missed out on playing XI due to the stiff back and Mandeep Singh was included in the team.

Notably, fielding first turned out to be a brilliant decision for defending champions as they managed to reduce Punjab Kings at the score of 50/4 in 8 overs. As Kieron Pollard dismissed Chris Gayle and captain KL Rahul. Krunal Pandya was able to bag the wicket of Mandeep Singh. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah dismissed explosive batter Nicholas Pooran.

However, after that Deepak Hooda and Aiden Markram added 61 runs from 47 balls to help Punjab Kings get back the momentum. Still, that was not enough for Punjab Kings to post a big total as Mumbai Indians bowlers did an amazing job in the death overs and they managed to stop KL Rahul-led side at the score of 135 for 6. Notably, Aiden Markram was the Highest run-getter for the team with 42 runs under his belt.

Meanwhile, During the chase, Ravi Bishnoi broke the back of Mumbai Indians by dismissing Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav early on in the innings while Saurabh Tiwary kept on scoring.

However, In the end Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya led MI towards victory.
