Sunrisers Hyderabad’s young sensational pace bowler Umran Malik on Wednesday received a signed jersey from Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli after the match between the two teams.
RCB lost to Kane Williamson & co by four runs at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi and hence they lost an opportunity to finish in the top two spots.
Riding on opener Jason Roy (44) and skipper Williamson’s (31) knocks, SRH posted 141/7 on a sluggish track where the ball was hard to connect for the batters.
Umran Malik recorded 153kph against RCB
SRH’s lead pace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave them the perfect start to defend the total as he got rid of RCB skipper Virat Kohli in the very first over of the innings.
Siddharth Kaul got the wicket of Daniel Christian using a knuckle-ball, and Malik used a short of length delivery to tickle Srikar Bharat’s glove down the leg side to get his first IPL wicket.
The Srinagar bowler has impressed the cricket fraternity with his destructive speed deliveries as he clocked more than 150kph in his first game on a couple of occasions.
In the match against RCB, Malik recorded a 153kph speed, the highest in this season, in the ninth over when he bowled Devdutt Padikkal a full toss.
We’ve got to maximise the potential of our fast-bowling stocks: Virat Kohli
Malik received plaudits from two of the greatest players in the game for his breathtaking performance so far.
” Good to see a guy (Umran Malik) bowling at 150 clicks. It’s important to understand the progress of individuals from here, how to look after yourself. We’ve got to maximise the potential of our fast-bowling stocks,” Kohli said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
“Umran certainly is special. We’ve seen him in the nets for a couple of seasons. Special opportunity for him and it’s not surprising to see him come and do well. Been a really valuable addition to the side,” Williamson said in the post-match ceremony.
SRH won their third game of the season and will have some pride to take from this game before they play Mumbai Indians in the final match on Friday (October 8).
