However, the latter half of the innings saw MI coming back strongly. Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard’s partnership eventually took the game away from Punjab as MI chased down the score in 19 overs.
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders currently find themselves at fourth position on the points table with 5 wins in 11 matches. In the last four games played in UAE, they have managed to secure three wins. And another three wins in their remaining three matches would surely seal their playoff berth.
Kolkata Knight Riders are coming into the encounter on the back of a three-wicket win over Delhi Capitals, which would have given them immense hope of reaching the top four at the end of the league stage.
A great bowling effort from the unit helped them restrict a powerful Delhi’s batting unit to 127 runs in the first innings. KKR chased down the score in 18.2 overs, thanks to significant contributions from Shubman Gill (30 off 33) and Nitish Rana (36 off 27).
