Dinesh Karthik walked in after Nitish Rana holed out to deep mid-wicket, but he managed only a couple of runs before heading back to the pavilion. As a result, the Knight Riders slipped to 75-4, chasing 205 in 20 overs.
Yuzevndra Chahal, who got his first wicket of IPL 2021 by dismissing Nitish Rana, got his second by getting rid of Dinesh Karthik. The Haryana-born leggie delivered the wrong-un, and it pinned the former Knight Riders’ skipper plumb in front. Karthik began walking back without waiting for the umpire’s signal, and replays showed that the ball hit the middle stump flush.
Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to bat first, making the most of the advantage. Glenn Maxwell drove his side forward after the Royal Challengers lost Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar in the second over. He departed for 78 off 49 balls and shared crucial stands with Devdutt Padikkal and AB de Villiers. On the other hand, De Villiers finished unbeaten at 76 off 34 balls as RCB hammered 70 runs in the last five overs. Before Dinesh Karthik’s dismissal, the Royal Challengers got the wickets of Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, and Rana as well.
