In-form Mitchell Marsh lost his wicket in an unfortunate manner in the ongoing clash between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Delhi Capitals made a terrible start to their innings in reply to Chennai Super Kings’ total of 167. Their talismanic skipper was dismissed for a two-ball duck in the very first over of the innings by Deepak Chahar. Phil Salt, who has been in good form in recent games, made a promising start by hitting a four and a couple of sixes.
But before he could inflict further damage on the home side, Chahar struck again to send back the England batsman in the third over of the innings. The right-handed batsman departed after scoring 17 runs off 11 balls. And even before Delhi Capitals could recover from the two huge setbacks, a poor call from Manish Pandey saw them lose another big wicket.
Mitchell Marsh gets runs out after a horrible mix-up:
Marsh had faced just 4 balls when a horrible mix-up with his partner Manish Pandey brought an end to his knock. On the first ball of the 4th over, Pandey defended Tushar Deshpande’s delivery towards the cover region and took a couple of steps forward. It was definitely a call for a single and since it was Pandey’s call, Mitchell Marsh obliged.
The Australian allrounder quickly left the crease and set off for the quick single only to see his partner change his mind at the last moment. After taking a couple of steps forward, Pandey decided against taking the single even though Marsh was halfway down the pitch.
In the meantime, Ajinkya Rahane fielded the ball and after seeing Marsh standing almost next to Pandey near the striker’s end, he decided against throwing the ball and instead ran up to the non-striker’s end to take the bails off.
