The Delhi Capitals (DC) started their campaign with a loss against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Delhi-based franchise won the hearts of the young wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant’s fans with their brilliant gesture during their last match in Lucknow on Saturday, April 1.

Rishabh Pant was ruled out of the ongoing edition of the IPL due to the injuries he sustained in a near-fatal car accident in December last year. The left-handed batter is currently recovering from injuries after the surgery. The veteran batter David Warner replaced him as skipper of the Delhi Capitals, with Axar Patel serving as his deputy.

Rishabh Pant was appointed as the interim captain of the franchise in 2021. The southpaw guided the team to the playoffs after finishing as table-toppers. However, they lost two matches in knockout matches and were eliminated from the tournament before reaching the final. The Capitals failed to make the playoffs the next season with an average performance.

The 25-year-old was one of the most crucial players in the Delhi-based franchise’s batting lineup. He played many memorable innings with the bat in the middle. He represented Delhi in 98 matches and scored 2838 runs with an average of 34.61 and a strike rate of 147.97. Young Bengal wicketkeeper Abhishek Porel replaced him for the rest of the reason.
