Delhi Capitals (DC) all-rounder Lalit Yadav expressed that it is not possible for the team to replace their regular keeper-captain Rishabh Pant, saying that there isn’t a player like him in the world.
Rishabh Pant was in a horrific car crash in December 2022. Although he did not suffer any career-threatening injuries, he did suffer many injuries on his head, back, and foot. Suffice it to say that he will not be playing in the upcoming IPL 2023 season.

Having played under Pant’s captaincy for two years, Yadav was part of the team that made it to the playoffs after topping the table in table. DC just missed out on the top 4 in 2022.
Speaking about how invaluable Rishabh Pant is to DC and how the team will find it difficult to replace him, Lalit Yadav said.

“Team is looking balanced but the absence of Rishabh Pant will be felt. The pre-IPL camps will decide a lot of things. You cannot replace Rishabh Pant. You cannot get a player like Rishabh Pant in the world. But the situation is such that we have to find a substitute.”
Delhi Capitals has signed West Bengal wicketkeeper Abishek Porel as Pant’s replacement. The team also has Englishman Phil Salt as a keeping option.

Ricky Ponting wants Rishabh Pant to be involved with DC in IPL 2023 despite injuries
Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting still wants Rishabh Pant to be involved with the team throughout IPL 2023, despite the injuries from his car accident that he is still recovering from.
In the absence of the keeper-captain, David Warner has taken up the captaincy for the side. The team is currently undergoing a practice camp at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium ahead of the season.
Ponting shared with the press that he has been in talks with Pant about involving the latter with the team, despite being unable to play. The Ex-Aussie batter also wants the franchise’s regular captain to attend their home games.
“I have spoken to Rishabh a bit. We are hoping to get him involved this season. I’d love to have him at all our home games. Having him in our dugout or our change room will be very special,” said Ponting”
Delhi Capitals will be looking to win their first IPL title, when they will kick off their 2023 season on Saturday, April 1 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
