The 4-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been handed a massive blow ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 as the 26-year-old left-arm pacer Mukesh Choudhary has been ruled out of the tournament.

Mukesh Choudhary finished as the highest wicket-taker for Maharashtra in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021-22 and he was roped in by the Chennai Super Kings for INR 20 lakh at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

He performed brilliantly for the MS Dhoni-led side in the forgettable season and bagged 16 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 26.50, an economy of 9.32, and a strike rate of 17.06. His best bowling figures in the season were 4/46.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Rope In Akash Singh As A Replacement For Injured Mukesh Choudhary

On Thursday, March 30, a day before the commencement of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) roped in Akash Singh as a replacement for injured Mukesh Choudhary. Choudhary has been ruled out of the tournament with a stress fracture.

“Mukesh, who made his IPL debut last season and scalped 16 wickets, is recovering from a stress fracture and hence, is side-lined from the 16th edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL).

“Akash Singh, who was a part of India’s Under-19 World Cup team in 2020, previously played for Rajasthan Royals,” an official statement from the Indian Premier League (IPL) read.

“The left-arm pacer has thus far played 9 T20s in addition to 9 List A matches and five First-Class games and has 31 wickets against his name. He joins CSK for INR 20 Lakh,” the statement further read.

The 20-year-old Akash Singh has been bought by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for INR 20 lakh. He has played 5 first-class games, 9 List-A games and 9 T20 games in his career. He previously represented Rajasthan Royals (RR) in one match in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Meanwhile, the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will commence on Friday, March 31, with the battle between defending champions Gujarat Titans and 4-time champions Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
