With just less than two weeks to go before the start of the Indian Premier League, legendary leg-spinner Anil Kumble has named two underrated players in the history of the cash-rich league. Anil Kumble picked right-handed batter Mayank Agarwal as an underrated player and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in the bowlers’ category.

Agarwal represented the Delhi Capitals, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Rising Pune Supergiant, and the Punjab Kings in the IPL. The Karnataka batter scored 2327 runs in 113 matches. Chahal is the third-highest wicket-taker and the leading wicket-taker among Indian bowlers, having taken 166 wickets in 131 matches in the T20 tournament.

I Don’t Think Chahal Gets Enough Credit – Anil Kumble

Anil Kumble said that Yuzvendra Chahal has not received enough credit for his performance and that he did well for whichever team he represented. The former Indian captain also called Mayank Agarwal an underrated player.

“That’s a tough one. Underrated player. In the recent past, I would call Mayank Agarwal as an underrated player. From a bowling perspective, I don’t think he gets enough credit for what he has done – Yuzi Chahal. He is someone who has certainly changed the fortunes of whichever team that he has been playing for,” said Anil Kumble on JioCinema.

PBKS released Mayank Agarwal ahead of the auction following his poor performance in the last edition. Sunrisers bought the 32-year-old for Rs 8.25 crore in the IPL mini-auction in December last year. Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal was acquired by the Rajasthan Royals for 6.50 crore in the mega auction in 2022.

The much-awaited 16th edition of the IPL will kick off on March 31, with four-time champion Chennai Super Kings taking on defending champion Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The upcoming season will be played in a home-away format for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic.
