IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Players Punjab Kings (PBKS) Can Target. Chennai Super Kings are expected to let go of a number of players after the franchise finished 9th in the 10-team tournament in IPL 2022. Several talented youngsters will be brought up at the auction table and CSK would want to buy some to strengthen their squad as they’d want to push for one more title in what is most likely to be MS Dhoni’s last IPL season.

The likes of Chris Jordan, Adam Milne, Narayan Jagadeesan, Bhagath Verma, C Hari Nishanth, Prashant Solanki, KM Asif, Tushar Deshpande, Subhranshu Senapati, and Matheesha Pathirana may be released by Chennai Super Kings.

Ravindra Jadeja and his rumored rift with Chennai Super Kings had earlier raised eyebrows on the all-rounder’s inclusion in the team for IPL 2023. However, according to reports, CSK has refused to trade Ravindra Jadeja with a couple of teams.

The star all-rounder played with the franchise for many years and was retained for Rs 16 crore in the 15th edition of IPL 2022. From being criticized for his captaincy and poor performance with the bat to stepping down as the skipper, Ravindra Jadeja was in the news for the wrong reasons in IPL 2022. Reports tell that MS Dhoni has made it very clear to the CSK management that they cannot lose Ravindra Jadeja at any cost.

MS Dhoni-led CSK, who failed to qualify for the IPL 2022 Playoffs, has retained former captain Ravindra Jadeja but decided to release international cricketers like England pacer Chris Jordan and New Zealand duo of pacer Adam Milne and spinner Mitchell Santner.

Chennai has retained MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Mukesh Choudhary, Dwayne Pretorius, and Deepak Chahar for the 16th season of IPL. Chris Jordan, Adam Milne, Narayan Jagdeeshan and Mitchell Santner have been released.

After the IPL 2022 mega auction, the cricket legends weighted Punjab Kings among the probable teams to reach the playoff and even win the IPL trophy. The reason was that they had a very good team comprising a bunch of talented utility players who could single-handedly win matches for the franchise.

But, after the IPL league stage finished, the Mayank Agarwal-led team found themselves packing their bags with just 7 wins from 14 matches, finishing the IPL 2022 points table in the 6th position. There will be a lot of brainstorming from now leading up to the 16th edition of the IPL. The likes of Shahrukh Khan, Benny Howell, Sandeep Sharma, Vaibhav Arora, and even IPL 2022 skipper Mayank Agarwal may be released by the franchise.

According to several reports, the Mohali-based franchise is eyeing to release three expensive buys – Mayank Agarwal (INR 12 crore), Shahrukh Khan (INR 9 crore), and Odean Smith (INR 6 crore) – so that they will enter the mini-auction with a big purse.

Chris Jordan was released by Chennai Super Kings before IPL 2023 auctions. Hence Punjab Kings may target the pacer. 34-year-old Chris Jordan has been a key member of the England T20 side and is currently one of the best death bowlers in the business. The 34-year-old can give two quality overs in the death and can also be a handy batsman if needed.

RCB and CSK both were interested in getting the services of the death-over specialist, Chris Jordan who finally came to the CSK camp for INR 3.6 crore in IPL 2022. Known to be a quality death bowler and for some hard-hitting shots lower down the order, Chris Jordan was drafted for the first time into the IPL in 2016 by the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

He was acquired by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 50 Lakh in the 2017 edition. The Punjab Kings picked him in the 2020 auction for INR 3 cr and he picked 9 wickets in the season. He picked 4 scalps in as many matches in IPL 2021 and only 2 scalps in 4 IPL 2022 games for CSK.

Like Chris Jordan, Adam Milne was released by Chennai Super Kings before IPL 2023 auctions. Hence Punjab Kings may target the pacer. Adam Milne was purchased in the auction for the IPL 2022 tournament by the Chennai Super Kings in February 2022 but was ruled out after a few matches. Fast bowler Adam Milne of New Zealand is prone to injury.

After only one match, he was ruled out of the IPL 2022. Adam Milne is set to be released from the team now that CSK has Matheesha Pathirana. Kiwi pacer, Adam Milne plied his trade for the Chennai Super Kings who bought him for INR 1.90 crore at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

Known for his sharp bouncers and deadly yorkers, Adam Milne previously was bought by the Mumbai Indians for INR 3.2 crores in the IPL 2021 auction as an addition to their rich pace bowling attack. He has played only 10 IPL games where he picked 7 scalps averaging 46.71.

Mitchell Santner

The kiwi all-rounder played again for the CSK at the IPL 2022. A smart spinner and a handy batter, Mitchell Santner was bought by CSK for INR 1.9 crore at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. In 2018, when Mitchell Santner was bought by CSK for just INR 50 lacs, the Kiwi bowler was definitely one of the most economical buys for CSK.

He has picked 10 scalps averaging 27.7 in 12 games and has also amassed 54 runs averaging 18. He played 4 games in 2019, 2 in 2020, and 6 in 2022. Mitchell Santner had an excellent T20 World Cup 2022, where he picked 9 scalps in 5 T20Is averaging a mere 14.33. For this reason, Punjab Kings may target him in IPL 2023 as they don’t have an overseas spin all-rounder except for Liam Livingstone in their squad.
