IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Gujarat Titans (GT) Players Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Can Target. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) always had superstars in their lineups, from the now-Indian coach Rahul Dravid in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League, to the likes of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle. Yet, they never have really gelled as a unit, and the title has remained elusive.

Royal Challengers Bangalore had a good outing in IPL 2022. In fact, they have been doing well in the last few seasons. That said, the expectation will be that the franchise must go all the way. They do have a few gaps in the squad. The Faf du Plessis-led squad can target a few good IPL 2023 auction signings but can also a few talented cricketers in the IPL 2023 trade window.

Against all expectations, Gujarat Titans went on to win IPL 2022. No one gave them a chance after the auction ended. However, the management was brilliant with its utilization of resources and tactics.

The team had a few issues after the bright start but finished the tournament well. Nevertheless, the opposition teams would now be warier of GT. The Hardik Pandya-led squad will have to make a few changes and that will start with releasing some cricketers like batter Vijay Shankar, pacer Varun Aaron, Afghanistan spinner youngster Noor Ahmad and West Indies all-rounder Dominic Drakes.

In recent times, Mohammed Shami has become an outstanding IPL bowler. Over the past three seasons, Mohammed Shami’s bowling has grown remarkably. He picked 19 scalps in 2019 and 2021 and 20 scalps in 2020 and 2022. One of the best India seam bowlers available, Mohammad Shami was bought by Gujarat Titans for INR 6.25 crore at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction and he picked 20 scalps in 16 games averaging 24.4.

As the 31-year-old is now openly available, Lucknow might find him tailor-made for their needs in IPL 2023. Because the team essentially requires a principal pacer, Mohammed Shami can be a befitting option. Though there are other candidates like Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar available, their multi-skillsets will eventually cost whopping amounts. That’s why compared to the other marquee Indian pacers, Mohammed Shami might be available at an equitable deal in the IPL 2023 auctions.
