IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Players Released By Delhi Capitals (DC) Who Might Go Unsold In The Auction

During the retention window, Delhi Capitals (DC) released 4 players while keeping up to 20. They finished fifth on the points table last season and a loss against Mumbai Indians denied them a spot in the final four. 

With the 16th season of the lucrative T20 event approaching, IPL franchisees have moved. Teams have let go of players who were not in their future plans in an effort to rebuild their squads. The majority of the releases followed predicted patterns, but the fans were in shock when big-name athletes were fired.

Many of the players on the list of those who have been publicly revealed are known short-format performers, and some of them are anticipated to be in great demand during the IPL 2023 auction. There are others, though, that might not pique the franchisees’ attention and end up unsold at the future auction.

Ashwin Hebbar

At the mega-auction, the Capitals purchased him for his base price of 20 lakhs. The opening batter, who is 26 years old, has not yet played for the Delhi Capitals. 

Hebbar could not perform well in the domestic season as well and not many teams will be looking forward to see the Andhra batter’s name in the IPL 2022 auction. 

Mandeep Singh 

Mandeep Singh, a seasoned player from Punjab, also had a dismal IPL 2022 season, scoring only 18 runs in three appearances for Delhi. Additionally, he did not have many opportunities in the 2021 version. 

He was picked up by Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2022 auction for a hefty amount of 1.1 Cr. However, it does not seem like it will be repeated and Mandeep may find it difficult to get any franchise bidding for him. 

Tim Seifert 

An aggressive New Zealand batter who prefers to play shorter forms over longer ones is Tim Seifert. He gained notoriety when he gave Northern Districts the quickest T20 century in domestic New Zealand cricket. 

The Delhi Capitals paid 50 lakhs for the Kiwi batter during the 2022 Auction. 

He was signed by the Delhi Capitals to serve as a backup opener when David Warner was sidelined at the beginning of the previous campaign, but he was unable to secure a berth.
