IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Players Delhi Capitals (DC) Can Target.  Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) IPL 2022 tournament was a replay of their performance in the IPL 2021. Though they managed to win 6 matches out of 14 and amassed 12 points, they still managed to finish in the 8th spot out of 10 teams.

One of the biggest reasons for a dismal season was New Zealand Kane Williamson, who just couldn’t get going throughout the IPL 2022 tournament with a strike rate of under 100. Kane Williamson, who struggled with an elbow issue, scored 216 runs in 13 innings at a disappointing average of 19 and an ever poorer strike rate of 93.

SRH’s biggest buy-in IPL 2022 auction was West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran for INR 10.75 crores, and then his teammate Romario Shepherd for INR 7.75 Crores. The likes of Shashank Singh, Romario Shepherd, Abdul Samad, Shreyas Gopal, and Sean Abbott may be released by SRH before IPL 2023.

Delhi Capitals who still wait to enlist their name in the IPL winners list ended up in 5th position in the last IPL season. Delhi Capitals have won 7 games in the 14 games they played and pushed to 5th position in the IPL 2022 Points Table with a total point of 14. GMR Sports Pvt. Ltd & JSW Sports Pvt Ltd owned team have been inconsistent throughout the IPL 2022 season.

It is learned that ahead of IPL 2023 auction, all teams are asked to submit their final list of retained players by November 15, 2022. In order to avoid a massive collapse all teams will look to retain their star performers and will release the rest. It is expected that all teams will retain a maximum of 15 players ahead of the tournament. The likes of Mandeep Singh, Lalit Yadav, Pravin Dubey, and Ripal Patel may be released by the franchise before IPL 2023.

When bowling all-rounder Romario Shepherd was snapped by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 7.75 crore in IPL 2022 auctions– it raised a lot of eyebrows since Romario Shepherd was a relatively new name in Indian cricket circles. Romario Shepherd though has been a regular in his domestic T20 league back in the Caribbean and holds the reputation of being a nippy fast bowler and a hard-hitter lower down the order.

West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd was one of the most expensive buys for SRH in the IPL 2022 auction at INR 7.75 crores. However, instead of giving him a long run in the tournament in the XI, Romario Shepherd spent most of his time on the bench and got to play only 3 games.

He showed his big-hitting prowess in those opportunities hitting 5 sixes and 2 fours-scoring 58 runs and also picked 3 wickets. However, SRH might be enticed to let him go ahead with the auction and probably get him back for a much lesser price in the IPL 2023 auction. Otherwise, Delhi Capitals may pick him up in IPL 2023 auctions.

Shreyas Gopal

Shreyas Gopal played 14 games for the Rajasthan Royals in 2019 and picked as many as 20 wickets, including a hat-trick against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He scalped 10 wickets in the IPL 2020 which was played in the UAE.

He had a pretty silent 2021 IPL playing just 3 games where he went wicketless. In IPL 2022, he played only 1 game for Sunrisers Hyderabad where he picked 1/34. His best season was IPL 2019, where he picked 20 scalps in 14 games averaging 17.35.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) absorbed former Rajasthan Royals (RR) all-rounder Shreyas Gopal for INR 75 Lacs during the IPL 2022 Mega Auction on February 12-13. Shreyas Gopal, who has also proved to be a handy batter lower down the order may be picked up by Delhi in IPL 2023.

Sean Abbott

SRH bought this 30-year-old Australian pacer, Sean Abbott, in the mega IPL 2022 auction at a final price of INR 2.40 crore. Sean Abbott has experience playing in the BBL and the IPL when it comes to franchise cricket. However, he has hardly got any chances to unleash his full potential in the IPL.

SRH gave him just one match where he failed to contribute with his bowling skill. Sean Abbott picked up only one wicket by conceding 47 runs in four overs at an economy of 11.75. Even, he failed to contribute with the bat as he scored only seven runs. In the past, he has represented the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2015 and if he’s released by SRH, Delhi may try to pick him up in IPL 2023 mini auctions.
