IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Players Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Can Target. IPL 2023 mini-auction will take place in December this year and before that, every IPL franchise has to submit the names of the players whom they are releasing and retaining and their purses will be adjusted accordingly. While some of the retentions will be straightforward for all franchises, there will definitely be some surprise retentions by the franchises too.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) IPL 2022 tournament was a replay of their performance in the IPL 2021. Though they managed to win 6 matches out of 14 and amassed 12 points, they still managed to finish in the 8th spot out of 10 teams.

One of the biggest reasons for a dismal season was New Zealand Kane Williamson, who just couldn’t get going throughout the tournament with a strike rate of under 100. Kane Williamson, who struggled with an elbow issue, scored 216 runs in 13 innings at a disappointing average of 19 and an ever poorer strike rate of 93. Their biggest buy-in IPL 2022 auction was West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran for INR 10.75 crores, and then his teammate Romario Shepherd for INR 7.75 Crores.

Lucknow Super Giants were one of the two new franchises that made their debut in IPL 2022. The Lucknow-based franchise became the first one to represent Uttar Pradesh in the Indian Premier League. KL Rahul was named the captain of the team. The team management formed a stellar squad at the IPL 2022 mega auction.

As expected, LSG made it to the playoffs in their debut season, but they could not win the title. Lucknow finished third on the points table, meaning they had to play in the Eliminator match. Royal Challengers Bangalore knocked them out of the competition by defeating them in the Eliminator match. Lucknow Super Giants may release Indian batter Manish Pandey, Australian fast bowler Andrew Tye, and Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis because of his hefty price tag ahead of IPL 2023.

The 22-year-old Hyderabad cricketer, who hails from Amritsar in Punjab, was picked at a massive price of INR 6.5 crore by the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise in IPL 2022 auctions. A hard-hitting lower-order batsman who can also bowl left-arm spin, Abhishek Sharma was brought by the Delhi Daredevils (now known as Delhi Capitals) in 2018. He was bought by Delhi Daredevils for INR 55 lakh at the IPL auction in January 2018 and smashed an unbeaten 46 off 19 balls on his debut for them.

He played just 3 games with very little to show and was roped in by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2019. In IPL 2022, he scored 426 runs averaging 30.43 at a strike rate of 133.13 in 14 games. If released by Sunrisers Hyderabad, he may be roped by Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2023.

Batting at a strike rate of 158.33, the right-handed batter Rahul Tripathi accumulated 413 runs from 14 matches in the IPL 2022 for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He had scored 397 in 17 matches in IPL 2021 and was a key player for his former franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.

The 31-year-old right-hand batter Rahul Tripathi has been one of the most consistent uncapped IPL players over six seasons with the 2022 edition being his best as he totaled 413 runs at a strike rate of 158.24 for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Lucknow Super Giants will target the batter for IPL 2023 as they would want an Indian middle-order batter if they release the likes of Manish Pandey and Deepak Hooda.

A stylish right-handed batsman, Aiden Markram, joined Punjab Kings (PBKS) as a replacement for England’s Dawid Malan in 2021. In his relatively young international career, the South African has put on some impressive performances with the bat and his occasional off-spinners.

He played 6 matches in the IPL 2021 edition and scored 146 runs. He added some flair and firepower to the Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting line-up in the IPL 2022 season, where he amassed 381 runs averaging 47.63 in 14 games with 3 fifties including a career-best of 68*. Lucknow will target the Proteas batter in the IPL 2023 auctions.
