Sikandar Raza, according to Aakash Chopra, would undoubtedly be selected in the forthcoming IPL 2023 auction, despite the fact that he conceded that his performances in the illustrious league might not be as strong.

One of Zimbabwe’s standout players in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 was Sikandar Raza. The spin-bowling all-rounder was named Player of the Match in each of the three games the Chevrons won in the competition, despite the fact that they placed bottom in Group 2 of the Super 12 stage.

Sikandar Raza Most Consistent Player In The Last One Year: Aakash Chopra

Chopra selected some of the top T20 World Cup players who might find buyers at the IPL auction in a video posted on his YouTube channel. As for Sikandar Raza, he stated:

“The first player who comes to my mind is Sikandar Raza. Forget Zimbabwe, in the last one year he is the most consistent player across the world. I feel no one would have won more Player of the Match awards than him. I have a feeling though that his performance might not be as fantastic in the IPL.”

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), according to Chopra, may be one of the teams interested in signing him. The cricketer-turned-commentator reasoned:

“It will be slightly lesser than that. But I feel he will have an IPL contract for sure. Everyone needs all-rounders, off-spin along with batting, good player. Where can he go? KKR can be a choice – he is a part of the Trinbago Knight Riders as well, he learned a bit of mystery from Sunil Narine.”

In his eight innings during the T20 World Cup, Raza amassed 219 runs at a strike rate of 147.97. He was also responsible for 10 firings and had a remarkable economy of 6.50.

Dhananjaya de Silva Can Also Draw Some Interest: Aakash Chopra

Chopra believes Dhananjaya de Silva is another all-rounder who bowls spin and can draw some interest. He clarified:

“I am doing a slightly left-field selection. He might go unsold once again, it is a possibility but why not Dhananjaya de Silva? He gives you off-break, there are a few pitches where the ball turns and stops. He bats well at No. 3 or No. 4 as well. He has got what it takes for T20s.”

The Sri Lankan all-rounder would be of interest to the Rajasthan Royals (RR), according to Chopra’s conclusion. The well-known commentator added:

“If we talk about the impact in this entire World Cup, he is in the top three. Rajasthan have Sangakkara, can Dhananjaya de Silva come in his thoughts? They play Riyan Parag, of course it’s not like-for-like because one is an Indian and the other overseas.”

De Silva played eight innings in the T20 World Cup, scoring 177 runs at a strike rate of 129.19. The off-spinner had a great economy of 6.82 and took six wickets.
