Since there was a mega auction this year, the franchise couldn’t retain the services of the majority of its players and brought in fresh faces.

The likes of Tymal Mills, Jaydev Unadkat, Mayank Markande, and Fabian Allen were released by the franchise along with Kieron Pollard who had a poor IPL 2022. Kieron Pollard later retired from IPL and will be Mumbai Indians’ batting coach in the next IPL 2023 season.

Mumbai Indians (MI) has announced its list of retained players for the IPL 2023 auction. The five-time IPL winners have retained a total of 15 players for the auction. IPL 2023 auction is set to take place on December 23 next month.

The venue of the mini-auction is Kochi city in Kerala. Ahead of the auction, BCCI had urged all the franchises to submit their list of retained and released players by November 15. All 10 franchises will have a salary purse of INR 95 crores in the IPL 2023 mini-auction.

Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the Indian Premier League so far. The team has won IPL titles 5 times- IPL 2012, 2013, 2015, 2019, and 2020. However, the Rohit Sharma-led side did not execute a good performance last season.

Losing back-to-back 8 games at the start, Mumbai Indians finished in the last 10th spot in the IPL 2022 points table. Out of 14 games, MI lost 10 matches and won only 4. They had just 8 points in their kitty and were the worst performer in the season.

Mumbai Indians Retained Players:

England star and Mumbai Indians pacer Jofra Archer was retained by the franchise for the IPL 2023. Now it is expected that Jofra Archer, who missed the whole IPL 2022 season due to injury will be back in action for the IPL 2023 season.

Mumbai Indians have released 13 players ahead of the 2023 IPL auction with Kieron Pollard announcing his retirement from the tournament, and instead taking up the role of batting coach at the franchise, this season. They have a squad of 16 players currently and will go into the auction with a purse of INR 20.55 crore.

Mumbai Indians (MI) Released Players:

The Mumbai Indians have discharged Kieron Pollard, their most senior player, to end a 13-year relationship that began in 2010, when Kieron Pollard was purchased for an unknown fee using the tie-breaker method.

The all-rounder also stated that he cannot imagine himself joining any other side in the IPL; nonetheless, Kieron Pollard will maintain his relationship with MI by taking over as the franchise’s batting coach.

Australian left-arm seamer Jason Behrendorff, who has made his name in the Australian circuit as a new ball specialist, will be representing the 5-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, Mumbai Indians, in the IPL 2023.

Jason Behrendorff has previously been part of the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2018 and 2019. He was acquired by MI in 2018 but was ruled out of the competition due to a back injury. He was retained by the franchise for the next season and he bagged 5 wickets in 5 matches in IPL 2019.

The 32-year-old Australia National Cricket Team left-arm pacer Jason Behrendorff has been traded to Mumbai Indians (MI) from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction. The pacer was bought by RCB for INR 75 lakh at the IPL 2022 mega auction.
