IPL 2023 Auction: Sanjay Manjrekar Believes Ben Stokes Would Be The Most Demanded Player During The IPL Auction 2023

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar believes Ben Stokes will be the most sought-after player at the IPL 2023 mini-auction.

Manjrekar also predicted that all-rounders would command the highest auction prices.

Stokes, who missed the previous edition of the T20 competition, was instrumental in England’s current and second T20 World Cup success, particularly in must-win matches. To demonstrate his worth, the ace all-rounder hit an undefeated 46 against Sri Lanka and 52 against Pakistan in the final.

Speaking on Star Sports, Sanjay Manjrekar said: “Ben Stokes, straight away. No. 1. He is a match-winner. If you make it to the playoffs, the big stage, these are the people who come to the party.”

Stokes last participated in the lucrative league in 2021, but his season was cut short by a finger injury as early as the Rajasthan Royals’ opening match. The Englishman scored 920 runs in 46 games, averaging 134 with the bat and taking 28 wickets.

Stokes won the 2017 Player of the Tournament award for his all-around performance for the Rising Pune Supergiants.

“Sam Curran might be effective in the IPL on low and sluggish pitches”: Sanjay Manjrekar

Considering how effectively the Chennai Super Kings have used him in the past, veteran Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar to thinks Sam Curran will be handy on low and slow IPL surfaces.

“Sam Curran is a very interesting English player who has a lot of Asian quality in the way he bowls. So he would ideally be picked by a team that is going to play a lot of home games where the bounce is a little low and the pitch is a bit slow. “That is why CSK used him beautifully when he had a big season with them. That would be a consideration” Sanjay Manjrekar Added.

The IPL 2023 auction is scheduled for December 23 of this coming month. The IPL 2023 mini-auction will take place in Kochi, Kerala. The IPL 2023 auction will involve all 10 franchises, and they will all attempt to assemble strong rosters.
