Chris Gayle, a former great batter for the West Indies, was renowned for his six-hitting ability and perhaps had his best IPL seasons while playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Virat Kohli, a former captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), had a warm welcome as he arrived in the city for the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), which begins on Friday. Cricket greats AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle joined him and participated in RCB Unbox 2.0 for the fans.

Gayle’s status, particularly when batting alongside star batsman Virat Kohli, also brought with it the perception that she couldn’t sprint rapidly between the wickets. Since the former RCB captain is one of the game’s fastest runners between the wickets, many people believed that Gayle would have had a hard time keeping up with him at the other end.

Chris Gayle spoke about his experience racing between wickets with Virat Kohli on the Jio Cinema program “My Time with Virat” as follows: “We had a good understanding with each other. We complemented each other well. Sometimes people might say ‘Chris didn’t run between the wickets’. I bat with Virat, and I ran between the wickets, so I don’t want anyone to use this as an alibi to say we don’t run between the wickets. We have over nine (ten) 100-run partnerships, check how many times how many twos and threes we took. I was the quickest one between the wickets. Don’t get it twisted,” he added.

Gayle revealed that he and his teammates at RCB had a lot of fun during his playing days. Gayle, who is from the Caribbean, is naturally social and loves to dance. Also, he made fun of Kohli by asserting that the latter wasn’t a better dancer than he was.

“Sharing a dressing room with Virat and the other guys, once I am there, I am always jovial and having a lot of fun, dancing and everything like that. I’d show them a few moves and realize Virat’s got the skills. He can move, you know. But if it’s an Indian dance, Chris Gayle will win. if it’s a Caribbean dance, Chris Gayle will win!” Chris Gayle added.

In honour of two of the franchise’s greatest players, Gayle and AB de Villiers were inducted into the RCB Hall of Fame, and their jerseys (17) and (333) were retired from the roster.
