Indian Cricket Team’s star right-arm speedster Jasprit Bumrah has been missing from action since September 2022. Jasprit Bumrah missed the T20 WC 2022 due to a back injury. The pacer was included in the ODI squad for the series against Sri Lanka in January 2023 but later was pulled out of the squad due to some minor problems.
It was expected that Jasprit Bumrah would take part in the last 2 Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 against Australia but the selection panel didn’t want to rush him. Jasprit Bumrah has become an inseparable part of the team where he not only bowls impeccable yorkers but has got a lot of variations to fox the batters.

Jasprit Bumrah To Miss IPL 2023
According to ESPNCricinfo, Jasprit Bumrah hasn’t recovered from the back injury and the pacer has to undergo back surgery. BCCI medical team wants the surgery to be done for recurring back niggles. It is assumed that Bumrah would be out for a longer period of time and he would miss the WTC 2021-23 final, if India qualify. It looks like Bumrah would directly take part in the ODI WC 2023 as the back injury looks quite severe.
“The BCCI medical staff at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru is treating Bumrah’s case on an urgent basis,” as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.

Huge Blow for Mumbai Indians (MI)
Mumbai Indians (MI), the five-time IPL winners, would be worried as Bumrah has been their star bowler for quite some time. MI had a forgettable 2022 edition where they finished at the bottom of the points table. BCCI has reintroduced home & away venues where MI would be tested.
This IPL edition is very important for the MI skipper Rohit Sharma as last time, he looked a bit scratchy and his decisions were quite questionable. MI have got a new Head Coach in the form of Mark Boucher where it would be interesting to see whether he can bring a change as the franchise hasn’t qualified for play-offs since 2020.
