Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja joined the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad ahead of the much-awaited 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Chennai Super Kings will begin their campaign in the tournament against the defending champion Gujarat Titans in the opening match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday, March 31.
Ravindra Jadeja suffered a knee injury during the Asia Cup last year and was sidelined for five months. The left-handed batter made his comeback in the recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series against Australia. He received the back-to-back Man of the Match awards for his all-round performances in the first two Tests of the four-match series.

The 34-year-old stayed back in Chennai after the conclusion of the third ODI between India and Australia. Jadeja is seen smiling in photos and videos shared on social media from the Chennai Super Kings’ pre-season training session at Chepauk Stadium.
Ravindra Jadeja replaced MS Dhoni as Chennai Super Kings captain before the start of the IPL in 2022. The all-rounder led CSK in the first eight games of the IPL’s 15th edition, but stepped down due to poor results, which impacted his performance as a player. There was speculation that there were differences between Jadeja and the team management, despite he missed the last few games due to injury.

The left-arm spinner deleted all his posts related to the franchise, leading to speculation that he was unhappy with the captaincy being stripped from him. However, he was one of the first players retained by CSK ahead of the IPL 2023 auction. According to a Cricbuzz, MS Dhoni had an honest and lengthy one-on-one chat with Jadeja, which helped him mend his ways with the franchise and settle down.
The Chennai-based franchise had a forgettable campaign in the 15th edition of the IPL, finishing ninth in the points table. The four-time IPL champions failed to advance to the qualifiers for the second time, winning only four out of 14 matches. Chennai will be hoping to end the upcoming season on a high note amid speculation over legendary captain MS Dhoni’s final season in the league.
