The much-awaited mini-auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 edition will be held on December 23 in Kochi. Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan believes that Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) may go all out to buy former Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Mayank Agarwal in the mini-auction as they have the highest purse amount of Rs. 42.25 crores.
PBKS released Mayank Agarwal ahead of this year’s auction and paired Shikhar Dhawan with Jonny Bairstow at the top of the order. He pushed himself down the order to accommodate other top-order batters in the last season. The right-handed batsman had poor performances, scoring just 196 runs in 13 matches.

Mayank Agarwal Is The Kind Of Guy Who Has Led A Side – Irfan Pathan
Speaking on the Star Sports show Game Plan, Irfan Pathan said that signing Mayank Agarwal would benefit Sunrisers Hyderabad. Irfan said that SRH can consider him a leader in the future.
“SRH will go after Mayank Agarwal because they need a kind of aggressive opener as well. They don’t have Kane Williamson right now who led them for many years as an experienced player and who used to open the innings as well,” Irfan Pathan said.

“Mayank Agarwal is the kind of guy who has led a side, who plays quite freely as well, very fearless, very selfless. They might be thinking of him going forward as a leader as well,” he added.
Punjab And Sunrisers Need To Be Very Smart Aggressive – Irfan Pathan
Pathan stated that Punjab and SRH do not have the proper playing XI, and they need to be aggressive in this auction. He believes they will bully other teams during the bidding wars for star players, and Australian leggie Adam Zampa will be in high demand.
