Indian Cricket Team would rue the fact that they couldn’t capitalize on a 1-0 lead in the ODI series against Australia. The hosts looked off-colour in the remaining 2 ODIs where their shot selection was quite questionable. Suryakumar Yadav had a forgettable ODI series where he made an infamous record by getting out on the first ball on 3 occasions. It looked as if Suryakumar Yadav was in the T20 mode where he was keen on playing shots.

It looks unlikely that Suryakumar Yadav will get another chance in the near future as Shreyas Iyer (*missed the ODI series due to injury) has got a brilliant track record. It was quite surprising that India failed to chase down 270 in the 3rd ODI where they had a long batting lineup where they lost the match by 21 runs.

Danish Kaneria was seen speaking on his YouTube channel and was quite furious at India’s coaching staff for not treating Suryakumar Yadav well.

“The Indian team management has not shown enough confidence when it comes to Suryakumar Yadav. They should not have changed his position. Even Virat Kohli took some time to come back to form, but his position didn’t change. So why with Suryakumar Yadav?” said Danish Kaneria.

“The Indian team management is to blame for Suryakumar’s golden ducks. It is Rohit Sharma’s mistake as well. They demotivated him at a time when his confidence was already shattered. They should have motivated him and allowed him to bat at his position,” he added.

Suryakumar Yadav’s IPL team Mumbai Indians have got a dangerous all-rounder present in the form of Cameron Green where there would be huge expectations from him. It would be interesting to see whether Cameron Green bats at the top of the order as they already have Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav & Rohit Sharma present & Dewald Brevis.

Rohit Sharma had made a statement that Indian players may take a break after 2 games to manage their workload ahead of WTC 2021-23 where in IPL 2023 we are going to witness a lot of doubleheaders. It looks unlikely that franchises will allow a player to take a rest without any injury.
