IPL Auction 2023: 3 Australian Players That Royal Challengers Bangalore Can Target. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) always had superstars in their lineups, from the now-Indian coach Rahul Dravid in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League 2008, to the likes of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle. Yet, they never have really gelled as a unit, and the title has remained elusive.

Royal Challengers Bangalore had a good outing in IPL 2022. In fact, they have been doing well in the last few seasons. That said, the expectation will be that the franchise must go all the way. They do have a few gaps in the squad. The Faf du Plessis-led squad can target a few good IPL 2023 auction signings but can also a few talented cricketers in the IPL 2023 trade window.

Travis Head has played for RCB previously in the IPL 2016 and 2017 seasons. Overall, he has played 10 matches scoring 205 runs at an average of 29.29 and s strike rate of 139.81.

The southpaw recently played as an opener for Australia in the ODI series against England that they won. Travis Head missed out on the 2022 T20 World Cup squad and can look to revive his T20 career with another good season with RCB. Travis Head registered himself for a base price of INR 2 crores ahead of the IPL auction 2023.

Chris Lynn

Chris Lynn has spoiled the party for the Royal Challengers Bangalore quite a few times in the IPL. With his effortless hitting, Chris Lynn could be the perfect foil for Virat Kohli, who has the knack of keeping the scoreboard ticking. Chris Lynn can be a great acquisition for the RCB side who are looking for an overseas opener. The boundaries at the Chinnaswamy Stadium are extremely welcoming and if Chris Lynn gets going, he will be a massive threat to any bowling side.

Chris Lynn has scored 1329 runs in 42 IPL games averaging 34.08 with 10 fifties. He has played for Mumbai Indians, now defunct Deccan Chargers, and Kolkata Knight Riders in the past IPLs.

Sean Abbott

Sean Abbott may be targeted by RCB after trading another Australian pacer Jason Behrendorff. Sean Abbott has played only 3 IPL games -2 in 2015 and 1 in 2022 picking only 1 scalp. However, things may change if RCB targets the pacer in the IPL auction 2023.

He has registered himself for INR 1.5 crores in the IPL auction 2023. Although he hasn’t played much for Australia ( 8 ODIs and 9 T20Is with 9 ODI and 5 T20I scalps), he may try to amend his stats (1 scalp in IPL) if picked by a franchise in IPL 2023.
